REPLACEMENT FOR VRO ON 1988 EVINRUDE 70HP OUTBOARD
Used to replace the old VRO setup that had been bypassed on my 1988 Evinrude. After finding a bracket for the new pump, it worked out great clearing a bunch of room. Now to see how the Pontoon performs on the lake!!!

Works much better and opened up so much room beneath the cowl ...
Used to replace an old VRO setup that had been bypassed on an older Evinrude I had recently purchased. Works much better and opened up so much room beneath the cowl of my outboard. Great pump for a great price.

This is not OEM, Cheap reproduction
This was supposed to be an OEM part. OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer and indicates that the manufacturer was the original producer of the part. In reality, this is a cheap Chinese reproduction. The box is not a Johnson/Evinrude blue red and white box, it's just plain cardboard with a made-in-China sticker. The top housing was not straight and upon removing the top screw, I noticed that the O-Ring was not seated correctly and some of its sides are flattened. It would have leaked immediately. Will need to find an O-Ring to replace or return the pump. True OEM products would have the part number on the body of the product. This does not. The metal mesh filter was all bent and it would have issues capturing any debris. Lastly, there was water in the pump... perhaps from the factory for their testing?Recommendation: Find a true Johnson/Evinrude OEM pump and avoid this one.

Best alternative to VRO
Worked great to replace VRO pump on a 115 Johnson.

pricey but it works.
Bought this product to replace a VRO on my Johnson 150. Problem is one of these pumps will not create enough pressure to keep the carbs full. So i had to purchase two of these and put them in series, They seem to work as advertised but after spending over $150 on fuel pumps i can barely afford gas for my boat now! Good sturdy product though and bolted right to the engine block in place of the old VRO. Could have been 1/2 the price so only 4 stars.
