Made a mistake and purchased a SANNCE unit first. The SANNCE worked as a DVR, but I had trouble with connecting it to my phone, which is just as important to me as the DVR recording. The Zosi also had network difficulties.Not only does this Annke device work with my existing cameras it easily connected to the mobile app. Additionally the software seems better overall. The user experience with their software is much better, the camera images actually appear more clearly and crisp than any of the other lower end Amazon DVRs I have tried.I guess the main lesson I learned is don't simply look at Amazon reviews. Dig one step deeper and look at the reviews of the mobile apps on the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store. If the mobile functionality is important to you, the mobile software is just as important as the firmware on the actual DVR.

I was quite surprised at how much i liked this DVR. This is my 3rd DVR and the first from Annke. The setup was easy as usual. installing the HDD was easier then others. They have the slide in screw spots so you didn't have to purfectly line up the holes blindly. The android app was very well put together and impressive, but the windows desktop app was amazing. So much control from my office without having to go to my network closet on the other side of the house. I can do everything, pulling video was easy as my last one was horrible trying to get video on a specific date. Very much recommended.

Bought this as a birthday present for my stepdad because he gave up on trying so many different DVRs or camera recording devices. Most never recorded or converted videos correctly, or their settings could not be changed. This one is by far the most stable and feature-rich. Even their apps are amazing despite their bad reviews on google app store. I would suggest buying a multi-terabyte HDD for this though. If set to HD recording for motion detection only on at least 10 cameras, a 1 TB HDD will fill up in about a month. Unfortunately, it has no way to automatically delete old videos or overwrite them. You literally will have to manually reformat the HDD again. Another thing you might run into is camera thumbnails dissappearing randomly. Seems like a bug. It can be fixed in General settings section though. Recording quality can be set higher than 1080p, but if your camera is of a different brand it will look a bit like SD quality. The company recommends buying their brand of cameras for that reason.

It's loaded with modern features which I like, and that's why I buy it in the first place. But, it's a video recorder, the video quality is just terrible. Compare to my old DVR, this one has low resolution and full of noise cross the image, especially in night vision mode. And this probably also lead to another fatal problem: my phone is flooded with faulty alarm, even with AI on and sensitivity set to 40 (default 60 or 80 can't remember). And yeah, my friend drive by right in front of my cameras with a 40-ft truck but I got no alarm about it. May be his truck is too big to be detected?So in short, this machine is like a car loaded with state-of-the-art luxurious, security and safety features, but when you attempting to drive it to somewhere, it barely catch a 45mph traffic.Some people may say upgrade firmware or ask customer service. No, when I see its hardware, I know it's no use, its hardware is just not capable of it. And its firmware is already up to date. There is no fan, just a tiny chip with tiny heat sink. Both H265 and AI require a lot of computing power, and this is an 18-channel (16 x BNC/IP convertible + 2 x IP only) DVR, there should be a very strong CPU which generates a lot of heat and HDD is also a heat source. I am not saying there is no H265 and AI, but that's why video quality is so poor because that's its hardware capable of.Now I returned it and reconnect my old DVR which is a bit of out dated, but good video quality.

Horrible. DON'T BUY this POS. Zero Customer Service and effectively no usable literature/instructions/etc. DON'T BUY THIS POS ... CAVEAT EMPTOR. 2 months and countless hours frustrated and no customer service at all ... except wild goose chases, round and round, unintelligible answers, poor English, Chinese CS base (closes at 10:30 EST); ... buy ANYTHING ELSE and consider yourself lucky! STAY AWAY from Annke ... horrible product and horrible (un)support!!!
