Being new to micro-needling at home, I was hoping there would be more in-depth instructions on how to best do it and also things to avoid, as not to hurt myself. I spent a while looking online before trying it, and boy does this have a steep learning curve - even on the face. I used it for a month and haven't noticed a difference yet. I hope it does something, as I'm getting lines and wrinkles I was hoping this would smooth out. I'll update this if I see a benefit.Note: This is my honest opinion and I hope my experience with the item helps you in your decision.

This Dr. Pen M8S Microneedling Pen is an easy to use at home alternative to pricey treatments.Basically it's one button operation. The different speeds help me adjust for the areas I'm treating. I do use numbing cream because I'm a wuss about potential discomfort so I've had very little to contend with using this device. The pen is lightweight and I don't get fatigued using it. I haven't exhausted a full charge yet and make sure it's freshly charged before using. The LCD provides good visual feedback on speed and battery level.The kit comes with a starter set of easily replaced sealed pin cartridges so you can see which are most useful to you. I'm loving the results. They weren't immediate but were visible with continued use.I spent quite a bit of time viewing videos on using a microneedling device, very helpful.

This microneedling pen is great! It is a bit finicky when trying to get the hang out when using it for the first time. The instructions weren't difficult to understand and it was quite simple to use. When using it on my face, it does sting but it isn't too bad. It is effective in improving my skin, but it does take time.

I found that after using this pen I had less redness immediately thereafter than I experienced with another pen (not Dr. Pen). I even set this one to a deeper level and I still had less redness, and no surprise “snags” when running it across my skin. I surmise it’s because of the finer diameter needles on this pen. Anyway, it’s the next day and my skin feels very smooth, looks bright, and there is no pain.I got this pen to target my cheek wrinkles and lip lines, which seem a little deeper than “fine lines”. Here is the procedure I followed one morning: First, I charged the pen, which took less than one hour. Next, I selected the 36 needle cartridge from the assortment they provided with the pen. I snapped it in, and found that it was easier to snap in than I was making it. Just listen for a little click (it doesn’t move far). After thoroughly cleaning my face, I numbed it for 30 minutes with lidocaine, then removed it and sterilized my face with 75% isopropyl alcohol. I slathered hyaluronic acid around my lips. I set the pen to 1.5 and made 4-5 passes in length, width, and circular motions. Then, I repeated this process for my cheeks (2.25), upper cheeks and crows feet (1.75) and brow area (1.5). For all areas I set the speed to 4. Afterwards, I applied a hyaluronic acid mask for 30 minutes. I did not wear makeup the entire day.One other point — when I read the instruction manual, there were parts of it that were written in broken English. It made me wonder if I had an authentic Dr. Pen, so I scanned the authenticity code on the box and sure enough, it’s real!Anyway, I’m happy with this pen! It’s easy to use, it goes deeper than my other pen, I have less downtime, less pain, less redness and still great results so far! This will be my go-to pen versus the other one.
