AWESOME
Arrived quickly! My 9 year old has been reading this series since the summer. It's a perfect combination of boys at play with educational twist. What a was to insert work into fun through reading. The characters are interesting and easily can be identifiable with many boys in the preteen age group. Very refreshing to read a book that helps young African American boys explore life without the vision that there are only stories of poverty and dismay. Any young boy(or girl)would enjoy these books regardless of race. Sharon Draper is an amazing author.

Best Books!
I have the entire collection of Sharon Draper books and have read them for years to my classes as a teacher in an urban district. They draw the children in immediately and the kids always want me to read MORE! I highly recommend these books to teachers, parents, and kids 8 and up! I really like to read them to African- American children because so few books are written with them as a target audience! Do not hesitate to buy!

LIB 805 Book Review - Rebecca C. Collett
Sharon M. Draper has yet again scored major points from all the young readers out there. Stars and Sparks on Stage is the 6th book apart of the “Clubhouse Mysteries” Series. The plot follows 4 young boys as they take on the challenge of singing in their school talent show. The prize is $200.00, which the 4 club members plan on using to fix up their clubhouse. The book takes a surprising twist when the boys meet a young girl named Tulip. Tulip and her mother moved to their town and were left homeless after Hurricane Katrina hit their home in New Orleans. Sharon M. Draper creates a story line that is not only intriguing and fun, but also inspiring. The plot leaves room for creativity in the classroom. Teachers can use this story to branch into other subjects and create a cross-curricular unit. Students could study hurricanes and the effects that this type of storm can create. This book is also a top recommendation for a young boy who may find reading is not their subject of interest. Young boys will be able to relate to the 4 main characters, Ziggy, Jerome, Rashawn, and Rico, who are all 4 unique in their own way and keep the plot exciting. Draper does a superb job in showing their personalities throughout the story and in creating round characters in which many young children can identify with. Stars and Sparks on Stage is appropriate for children ages 8-12.
