Does NOT fit Troy-Bilt 5550
I ordered this as my generator is very old and the original cap finally broke. This cap is advertised as compatible and the same part number B4363GS, however, it is not. It doesn't screw all the way on to the generator and doesn't fit tight enough. It's also missing the vent hole on the top. Some of these generators were recalled several years ago for not having this hole resulting in fire. I'll be looking elsewhere for the CORRECT replacement.

Good replacement
My original gauge lens became cloudy and crazed and I just couldn't read it that well anymore. This one fits and works fine although it is not exactly like the original. The float is about twice the size and the cap is thinner. I consider both of these to be improvements. I had an issue with the original cap in that there is a well around the gas cap that fills with water when it is raining. The well is deep enough that the cap touches the water creating a situation where water can get sucked into the tank as you open it. The new cap is shorter and this is no longer and issue. Its a good replacement.

Can’t read the gauge.
Looks good at first, but once you put it on the tank and gas gets on the plastic top or the fumes get inside the gauge, the plastic fogs up and you can’t read the level. Gas on the top of the cap makes the plastic melt. I would not recommend this if you want to be able to see the gas level.

This is a non vented gas cap
I saw the reviews of the clouded gauge lens and experienced it as well. I also saw the plastic gas tank to my generator bulging as it was running indicating venting issue in this case . I ended up watching some videos, and researched vented caps, and ended up just making mine to vent. The lens stays cloudy as it seems to chemically react to the fumes of the fuel.

Good fit, not so great seeing fuel level
The good: This was a perfect fit for an old Cub Cadet 1650 gas tank. The bad: The plastic top fogged over after 24 hrs and now you cannot see the fuel level indicator. Also, the cap eventually leads to fuel starvation because there is no vent mechanism so I have to burp it once in a while to keep it running.

Defective cap
Bought this after our December 2023 power outage to replace my old cap, ( the float/gauge stopped working ). Had an outage last weekend March 2024 and when I looked at the gage it was all white. Clouded up while in storage and beyond the return date.Don’t waste you $$$

Perfect fit for Briggs generator
Got this as a spare because the price of these seems to be rising all the time. I replaced the original on the generator several years ago when the lens deteriorated and cracked. Now I try to keep a cover on it to keep the sunlight from attacking it. This new one appears to be well made and accurate reading.
