Big dreams, a shared passion—on the ice, they call it love. After suffering a humiliating loss at the Grand Prix Final, Japan’s number one skater, Yuri Katsuki, is ready to hang up his skates for good. Taking time off from competition, he re-evaluates himself and his passion, only to return home with no medals, zero confidence, and no reason to return to the ice. That is, until Victor Nikiforov, his idol and five-time gold medal champion, appears with a surprising offer—he wants to be Yuri’s new coach! But this news isn’t sitting well with others in the skating world, and Yuri must push himself to prove that he’s worthy of Victor’s attention—starting by facing Russia’s rising star, Yuri Plisetsky. With new routines, the aid of his family and friends, and Victor’s undying support, Yuri will discover more about himself and his feelings within. With Victor close by his side, Yuri will find the true meaning of victory! The Limited Edition comes in a collectible art box with "cracked ice" holographic finish and foil print and includes an 80-page book of illustrations and behind-the-scenes interviews with director Sayo Yamamoto, co-creator Mitsurou Kubo, and choreographer Kenji Miyamoto. The set also comes with 3 art cards.

This Limited Edition is Born to Make History!!!
This is such a nice Limited Edition box set from FUNimation Entertainment. It's not too big and not too small, with a shiny glimmer finish that makes a rainbow shimmer on thee box. It also comes with three nice art cards and a nice paperback booklet. Inside the booklet are character bios, interviews with the creators, concept art, and key art. I'm very satisfied with this product, and if you like the show, definitely go for this beautiful limited edition!

Beautiful, emotional, suspenseful, thrilling, romantic & cute
I love this! So glad I bought it on blu-ray. It's honestly a really good anime.(Some of these reviews are missleading, this product is only the blu-ray/DVD combo pack and not the limited edition box set, even though I wish it was. I almost paid $20 extra (from another retailer since amazon doesn't offer it) to get it but decided against it.)I enjoyed it so much, I was on the verge of tears several times. It's very emotional, showing character vulnerablinities and strengths. It has some truly beautiful detailed shots. It was actually very ambitious of Funimation to animate such a thing. Figure skating requires fluid animation. While the animation is not fluid while they are skating, in my opinion, for the most part and there are wonky and weird looking shots, I still enjoyed it and it didn't distract me from the moment too much. The movement can sometimes look a little like a flip book sometimes, a little jumpy and staggered, but like I said ambitous and emotional. There have been some beautiful detailed up close moments that I would love to have pictures of but, alas I can't.I really love the dynamic between the main characters Yuri and Victor. Representation in anime for me, mostly never happens. This is the first time seeing a character, Yuri who is probably most like my self. Thanks for that.I will treasure this purchase, always. It's an early birthday present to myself.

LOVE the show, but...
I really love Yuri!!! on ICE. The show itself is solid and I'd recommend giving it a watch for anyone on the fence. I haven't gone through all the changes on the blu-ray version, as yet, but I don't think that they'll be different enough to change my opinion of the show.So why the low score? Well that's for the blu-ray itself. I only just received it a few minutes ago, but there were a couple of things that have bothered me about it already. The blu-ray comes with 2 audio options, English and Japanese, which it great. It starts to play and I realise that I forgot to switch to the Japanese audio and so I do it. Then I realise that I need to turn on the subtitles, so I go looking for that option and can't find it. It turns out that the Japanese audio and English subtitles are inextricably linked. That means if you turn on the Japanese audio your screen is automatically covered in English script. You have no option to view and unadulterated version of the show even if you switch to English there are translations on the screen whenever someone felt it was needed. This probably won't bother most people, but it bothers me and I feel like separate controls for audio and subtitles is something that's been pretty standard for a while now, so why did they mess with that. Just for the heck of it, I checked my Kiki's Delivery Service DVD to see if I had all that control, and I did. I was looking forward to owning this so I could just sit back and enjoy the animation and art from time to time, but heck I could have just stuck with the Crunchy Roll version!Like I said, it probably won't be an issue for most people, but I feel like people should be aware before they decide to purchase. It's been a while since I've liked something enough to bother purchasing a DVD or blu-ray and this, as well as the unskippable ads at the start of the disc aren't really changing my mind on the matter. Still won't be returning it though.EDIT: The subtitle issue only seems to affect the blu-ray. The DVD has separate audio and subtitle controls.

"Kiss him, you fool!"
Japanese subtlety can be annoying. Take YURI ON ICE -- does its marriage of sports drama and romantic comedy promise more than it ultimately delivers, or does the show succeed because its boy-meets-boy love story is, you'll excuse the expression, a fairytale romance -- so idealized it exists in a realm of pure emotion? The backdrop is the small but passionate world of competitive figure skating, and the offbeat triangle that plays out against it -- a pair of twentysomething starcrossed lovers and the 15-year-old "punk" who wants to break them up -- is the excuse for a series of high stakes dance routines on ice. This is straight up eye candy: these boys move beautifully (and the "Welcome to the Madness" OVA will leave you panting), but the show is more about the pain of perfecting those athletic displays than about the display itself. Yuri and Victor, young men in the twilight of their career but for different reasons, and the "beautiful monster" Yurio, a teenaged vessel of pure rage channeled into art, keep finding ways of pushing each other into new emotional and artistic territory. That's what makes this such a joyous, hopeful series: we don't really want any of them, or even any of their competitors, to fail. Everyone has so much invested in winning. Everyone has their reasons. That said, there were times when I wanted to scream "Kiss him, you fool!" at the screen. Our heroes have their highs and lows, they're clearly in love with each other, there's a lot of crying and embracing, but why can't they explicitly plant a single kiss on the lips? There's a reason for that omission, but I don't get it.

A Super Sweet Anime That Never Fails to Make me Smile
Yuri On Ice is absolutely fantastic in every way shape and form!! :)From the characters to the plot to the slow burn romance to the costumes to the absolutely divine music and the hilarious moments between the skaters, it's a true masterpiece. This set contains the DVDs and the Blu Ray editions, and both come with frankly gorgeous artwork on the dvd covers...however my one and only bug bear is that there is added Bonuses on the Blu Ray, but none on the DVDs! (Sob!) Although...you can watch the extra skate on Youtube, which I did and it is well worth checking out just for the surrealism of watching Yurio skate to Welcome to the Madness! All of the characters (apart from JJ, I found him incredibly irritating!!) were likeable/loveable and the portrayal of Yuri slowly growing in confidence and learning to become less anxious is a real joy to watch and by the end of the series when the final competition is going on, you really do feel like you're in the audience with them, sitting on the edge of your seat ready to cheer for your favourite skater, which I absolutely loved!I also really liked the quiet, tender relationship between Yuri and his coach Victor (who is on a par with Yuri on my favourite characters because he's kind, funny and obviously very talented!) and the frankly adorable moments you get when you see them together, not to mention the wonderfulness that is the end of episode 12...oh I just sob like a baby every single time I watch that skate!! No spoilers, but go watch it and you'll see what I mean.On the subject of skating....My God, is this phenomenal, they've got it down to a fine art that is quite simply divine. This anime never fails to cheer me up on a gloomy day, lifting my spirits and making me laugh, cry and cheer in every single episode! :)So all I can say is, destined for victory? Absolutely in my book!!

LOVE this series :)
and we're getting a second season to, I can only hope that the second series is as good as the first. The animation is totally on point with this series. you can tell they went the extra mile. if your a fan of figure skating them you'll know what I mean. The music really add's to the series and you find yourself getting more and more into the series as it builds up to the grand final.I can't stress enough about the animation, especially for the figure skating scenes, they really went all out and the care and attention to detail really show's.all in all a brilliant series worthy of the hype :)

I adore Viktor
I watched this series when going through a stressful time at work. It's just lovely to watch a drama when the real conflict is in the hero's head, and not with others (in any real sense, although Yurio could be pretty horrible at times). Yes, perhaps the m/m the romance could have been more patently drawn, and I can see why there are issues with it not being so (in any show with hetero main characters the kiss would have been shown). But at its heart it is a show about a man who, with love and encouragement, discovers he's better than he thinks he is and grows in confidence, and that is wonderful to see.
