Perfect affordable start to my home automation journey
I decided to dip my toes into home automation after getting a HomePod mini. Since I’m already in the Apple ecosystem, I wanted something HomeKit-compatible to start with—but I quickly realized most HomeKit-compatible products are priced much higher than their Alexa or Google Home counterparts. After a lot of research, I came across this Tapo smart bulb, and it’s been a fantastic find!Pros:Easy setup: Thanks to Matter compatibility, connecting this bulb to HomeKit was a breeze. Just screw it in, switch it on, and it blinks three times. Then, scan the Matter QR code in the Home app, and within seconds, it’s paired. Assign it to a room, and you’re good to go. Super simple!Bright and responsive: The bulb is very bright, especially on the warm yellow setting. Other colors are slightly dimmer, which might be due to the nature of colored lights compared to white. Still, they’re perfectly usable and look great.Affordable: At £9.49 per bulb, this is an incredible value for a HomeKit-compatible smart bulb. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get started with home automation.Reliable: After a month of use, I’ve had no issues with connectivity or performance. The bulb responds quickly to voice commands via Siri and works seamlessly in the Home app.Cons (minor):As mentioned, the brightest setting is on the warm yellow light. Colors like red, green, or blue are noticeably dimmer, but I guess that’s pretty common with smart bulbs.Overall experience:I was so impressed that I ended up buying three more of these bulbs for other rooms in my house. They’ve been running smoothly for a month now, and I’m already planning my next steps in expanding my home automation setup with more Tapo devices and sensors as soon as they release Matter compatible versions. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to get started with smart lighting and HomeKit, this bulb is a no-brainer. Highly recommended!I have added some automation with Door Sensor from Aqara and now the bulb turns on as soon as I open the door. No delay.

Easy to use and connect
The media could not be loaded. It integrates easily with my Alexa 5th generation. Easy installation - just screw in the bulb and use the Alexa app to detect and connect via a qr code given with it.No need for a separate hub, it was recognised immediately.I can turn the lights off dim or to any Kelvin with in the range. Easy to get day light coolness, white or warm , as it suits you.I have left it to a setting where it will automatically turn off after half hour of inactivity in the room.Saves electricity with gives good luminosity.

Decent smart bulb
NutshellGood smart bulb with a few nice features.ProsIt has a decent spectrum to choose fromCan schedule and automate light to work with your eyes.Works with Alexa flawlesslyCons:Not enough special effects which are available with others. Can forget you have a smart light and when you switch it off from main switch it doesnt switch on again until you switch it back kn from main, can be irritating at times.Overall decent smart bulb but I will stick to the smart led strips they seem to be more easier to deal with.

Best new "matter" bulbs I have tested
[Applies to Tapo L535B bulb with Smartthings Hub V3]Really pleased with these new bulbs from Tapo. Unlike some examples from other manufacturers, these are properly matter-compliant (with a suitable controller device, of course.)The bulbs came well-packaged, with adequate instructions and the matter codes shown clearly. I scanned the label and Smartthings picked the bulbs up immediately. I made sure to give the 2.4gHz wi-fi details at this point, and installation completed correctly at the first try. A great improvement on the old “multiple resets and will it work this time?) procedures.Build quality seems good. The light output is about right for the advertised 75w equivalence (on white) but, as always, colour luminance is much less. On test, I was also pleased to find that the white colour temperature is very close to metered values. After a week, we found good service reliability with no network drop-out at any time. The price (discounted on Amazon UK at the time of purchase) is very attractive so we will be getting a few more as spares. Conclusion: Highly recommended.

Perfect!
I love Tapo products. I bought the security camera, my electricity monitoring socket and the light bulb. very nice colours are very nice, especially before going to sleep, it is good to sleep in a nice way by taking the red light, it is also a very economical bulb and automatically adjusts itself according to daylight.

I love my Tapos
These are great devices and for the price you'd think there'd be a compromise somewhere but after ~2yrs of owning a total of 10 of these bulbs I have had zero issues.Surprisingly straight forward. Turn the device on and the app automatically recognises it. Total set up time <2mins. I have yet to have a single device fail to connect or go offline.I don't think the colours are as saturated or as diverse as something that costs much more (e.g. Hue) but no complaints from me. After a while you settle on a handful of colours anyway.

Does what I wanted with few drawbacks
Smart light, turns on and off from your phone, can change colours, can change the percentage of light 0-100%, and other “smart” features. The main drawback, unless I’m doing something wrong?, is when switching on from the wall it does not turn the light on…

Easy setup with Home Assistant
First off; this pairs, sets-up and functions extremely easily through the Matter integration in Home Assistant (HAOS). It is fast, and RGB colours are good. So why not 5 stars? Well, the whites are not as bright as I had with my previous Zigbee bulb, and no matter (no pun intenede) what colour temperature I set, it doesn't feel as 'clean' as other RGBWW bulbs I have... maybe it has a poorer CRI ?
