I don't know
As advertised. I've just started reading the book. It is very easy reading and when I finish reading the book I expect to have a better understanding of the subject material.

Big fan of his, of course reading this will hurt your brain cells! He try’s to make it easy to understand, but repeats things from his other books , which is good because you will forget!

MORE REMARKABLE THAN HAWKING’S COSMIC CRUISE…THERE ARE ONLY 2 REVIEWS!!!
It’s great fun reading this lucid Stephen Hawking masterpiece on quantum mechanics, gravity, magnetism, the invisible dimensions, the string theory, relativity, black holes, and how these and other pieces fit into the giant jigsaw puzzle of the yet awaited unified equation of "Everything". Whew! I'm now 86 and still don't comprehend even a small fraction of how this magnificent universe came to be and is becoming. When I was a young child I knew far more than I know now about what life is and isn't. I was able to step in and out of my physical body easily and visit the invisible worlds of which Mr. Hawking speaks so eloquently. Each exhilarating day was filled with wonder, but I'm in no hurry to return there yet. I have more books to write before I again enter that white light :)(If this review was helpful in any way, please click on the "Helpful" key below, or write a comment. Thanks).

A good read; this seller was great.
The first thing to note is that this seller wrapped the book in a nice plastic covering to make sure it doesn't get damaged. So, kudos to a seller who's responsible & cares about customers.Regarding the book's contents ... this is a series of essays or lectures by Dr. Hawking. As usual, the guy can explain the most complex stuff in a way that anyone can understand.I highly recommend.

this one does a great job of helping the reader to understand some of ...
I purchased this book with keeping in mind to add it to my collection of Professor Hawking's literary works, and while many things in here are repeated in his Brief History of Time book, this one does a great job of helping the reader to understand some of the more technical or scientific approaches to understanding our universe and what goes on in it that governs our reality as we experience it. It was a great eye opener and helped to clear away some difficult notions made in other works. I recommend this book to those who would like to understand mankind's best grasp of the laws of nature as we have explored them so far...

Shame on you seller!!!!
Very very poor. Was not made aware that this book was ex library stock. Poor description and to be fair misleading.

Theory of everything?
Having already read The Universe in a Nutshell, and A Briefer History of Time, I was disappointed that this book did little to offer new, or more simplified, explanations of many of the key concepts of Hawking and friends. The description of the book as 'The Illustrated" was also a letdown as it contains less effective illustrations than The Universe in a Nutshell. Neither does the book stand on it's own for new readers to Hawking. I'm afraid Hawking still assumes that the average reader understands things like quantum mechanics and basic astrophysics when giving us his explanations of such things as the concept of space time, or string theory. I'm not sure who the book is pitched at.
