Defender Mole Tunnel Trap

Good and effective device if used correctly. Saved me the £50 cost for local pest control.
A good and effective item. Very reasonable and effective with perseverance. Firstly, busy the trap or leave outside for a couple of weeks. The mole did seem to detect it initially - either the newness (it is bright and shiny), or smell. 2) use gloves. Some people say the mole will not smell the human scent, but the gloves also act as an extra protection if you were to catch your finger - the springs are strong! Biggest tip: dig out the section of tunnel, remove excess soil so the tunnel is clear, set the tunnel and cover with heavy tile or similar to block out the light. Many videos tell you to cover the trap with soil from a mole hill but I found this kept failing. The mole kept setting it off by back-filling with soil. A farmer told me the technique I used and I caught the mole on the first attempt.

You need to know the tricks of the trade to get success
Okay.... I caught one or two moles from a group of possibly as many as eight that had invaded my field but I had as many and more that stopped at the trap and turned back, burrowed out of the ground when they came to the trap and tripped the trap without being caught. Don't expect to solve all your problems with these unless you know what you are doing. I've read and studied all that I could find on tips to use traps and have been very diligent when setting these up but still the little blighters avoid getting trapped. I take my hat off to professional mole trappers. It's certainly not as easy as it looks.

Very hard to use.....
This trap is probably effective in the right circumstances such as well worn runs but on new runs the mole simply by-passes it and in doing so obstructs the trap and often setting it off by pushing soil I into it. I haven't got rid of the blasted mole yet buy I have halted its progress towards my lawn by flooding and collapsing it's tunnels. I have yet to find a better way as they can recognise a trap it seems.

I have no more moles
In an ideal world, playing loud music next to the mounds, or little windmills would scare these creatures off. Sadly, it comes down to your lawn or them, I went with the lawn. All sorted within 48 hours. Just make sure you place them in a run between mounds and make sure they do not smell of human before putting them in. I put mine in a bucket of muddy/sludgy water overnight before placing them

Caught three within a week!
Works very well. I have two small nests in different areas of the garden. I placed this in between two small mole hills that had appeared that day and by the morning I had caught a mole. I then tried another area which took a couple of days. The third one again was overnight. My only issue is that when setting the trap, it's easy for it to snap, which could cause issues if you didn't wear gloves

Does the job
Have tried and tested a number of trap types to catch or kill moles in the garden. These worked the best by a mile. They can be a bid fiddly to set at first but recommend watching a few tips and tricks on youtube so you know the best place to install these in your garden, and how to set them. They come with 2 triggers on each to catch the mole both routes in the tunnel. I ordered 3, One of mine did come with one shortened trigger than mean it only worked one way. But these were so cheap and it was still usable.

Mole Trap Review
As a first time user of a mole trap it took me a while to find the mole run. I was also a bit surprised at how tricky it was to set the trap and how important it is to keep your fingers out of the way. Once I got the hang of setting the traps and after relocating the traps a couple of times I managed to catch my first mole.I am looking forward to re-establishing our lawn and I'll be glad when it no longer looks like a bomb site.

They Work!
Got an expert to show me how to find the mole runs and set the traps in there. 100% success rate! Set 4 traps, got 4 moles within 24 hrs. Each one I’ve set over the past 3 weeks has caught a mole. I have very loose soil so runs are deep and hard to find. Use a run detector (steel rod with a rounded end) and you’ll be successful. Happy customer 👍
