Grand Designs - Series 1 [DVD] [2001]

Wonderful!

It doesn't matter which country you live in these DVD's are inspirational. Kevin is fun and funny.

Love the show, DVD showed up sooner that I thought it would. But the DVD would not work on a DVD player. Downloaded VLC player on my computer to get it to play. Something to do with UK dvds not working on U.S. devices.

When I attempted to play this disc as well as the others with the set my player informed me that the disc could not be played. Never had this problem before ; has anyone experienced similar problem? I saw several of these productions on Netflix which prompted these purchases and thought they were fantastic so truly disappointed that I could not get them to play .

We are big fans of the series. I'm not sure why the owners of this series have made it difficult for Americans to buy it. We got hooked by watching series 11 and 12 on Netflix. It was annoying but I assumed that this was standard get you hooked on a series and then force you to buy the DVD's to feed your addiction. Well the owners of this series have a different scheme: get you hooked and then don't provide any way for you to see the remaining series. As it happens though, we bought this and it played on our setup. Windows Media Center running on Windows 7. I haven't tried it on DVD players or other computers. I don't normally give anything 5 stars but the revisits were great and totally unexpected on our part. And then it played on our system which was unexpected as well.

Great series re-discovered. Introducing the series to an 11 year old aspiring architect so even if some designs a little dated there is loads of useful info and ideas to inspire. Delivery was super fast and the dvd although second hand is in perfect condition as described by the vendor. Thank you!

I have all the series of Grand Designs, and recommend them highly. Once you have watched one, you will go out and purchase the next series. The Series 1 , I only purchased much later than the others, and was quite interested to see how Kevin McCloud and the whole series became more proffessional.

Been watching Grand Designs since the beginning (well almost - only saw one of the 1st episodes from the 1st season) and really enjoyed it.Finally found this season on Amazon UK and had to get it. Now I can really start to watch and remember. It is wonderful to see where it all started and how Kevin has matured (and become more sceptical) as the series goes along.Worth the search and buy!

Great collection, especially the episode about the Brighton Co-operative self-build project Hedgehog.. The question must be asked if this social housing model can produce such strong and nurturing communities, why is it not getting more support?

A great dvd , more episodes but again some missing or out of tv order. Well worth buying though so sit back and enjoy !
