Enjoyable read
It was a good read, but I didn’t like the end. It left more questions than answers. It’s almost as if a sequel is to follow. Making you wait to get the rest of the answers in there.

I prefer Bennie Griesel
This book was not for me. It's a load of rubbish actually. Reminded me of Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road', which, by the way, I did not like either - too depressing. Best Mr Meyer sticks to the genres he understands and exploits well, and readers enjoy. 'Koors' might be suitable as a set book for Matric Afrikaans students to argue over, and analyze and dissect ad infinitum but with its really horrible mixture of Afrikaans and English I doubt it's even that. The plot is far fetched, but not só far fetched that you could describe it as science fiction. The fragmented writing style and the mixture of Afrkaans and English is that of an author trying just a little too hard to be 'different'. The characters are, well, just characters in any old story and none that you'll remember for more than a few days. But read it yourself and decide for yourself. Mine is a personal and not a professional opinion and you might disagree. But a 'five star' read? No ways!

Loved it! One of his best I think
Loved it! One of his best I think. I seldom read Afrikaans as I now live in the UK, but each trip back to visit family I make sure to buy Doen Meyer's latest book and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Two random ladies saw me reading it in a salon and raved about it, and I gave it to my dad as a Xmas gift and he read it in record time. A bit of a slow burner but characters you care about
