Got this for my kid who's taken an interest in chess. Figured something inexpensive would work best. Love the look of it. The pieces are magnetic at the bottom so it makes it easy to move across the board. No complaints here but again this is for my kid.

This is a good starter set. All of the pieces are nicely made and I like how everything stores in the case and makes it nicely organized and compact.

I got this set for my kids for Christmas. I loved the magnetic feature because I wanted to give my kids a different option besides their tablets in the vehicle. I was bummed to find out that the checkers weren’t magnetic too. The checkers also don’t have a king option, we just use a chess pawn when they need to be kinged. The carry case is helpful.

I have been through many boards like this. This is very well made and fun to play with. The magnets are strong enough to hold the pieces in place with even a minor bump. everything is stored securely inside the locking halves of the folding board

Started playing chess with my son and I love this set. I’m sure there are way better ones but in my opinion the quality was a nice surprise for the price. This chess set is made from the highest quality wood by skilled craftsmen. It is difficult to damage even if dropped hard. Additionally, the durable chess set is carefully polished to give you a smooth feel.Very satisfied with the build and design of the pieces, especially the knight which is MUCH better looking than most of the other designs in the same price range.The board lays flat with no gap in-between. The finish is ever so slightly grainy in some areas but not in a bothersome way, the pieces still slide nicely. The pieces are well crafted. Overall I am extremely pleased with this set, especially considering that I purchased it on Prime Day at a great discounted price. Would highly recommend for the average hobbyist chess player.

I'm a forester by trade so wood is somewhat important to me so I'll get this off my chest. This is not made from the highest quality wood as advertised but I have to ask if I should expect to have more for $33.99? the board itself is all very rough to the touch and a tad rough on the eye upon close inspection. It seems like it wouldn't hold up well to to many drops if any drops at all and mine had slight damage thanks to the minimal packaging it came in. The chess pieces are a bit crudely carved but are more than adequate to play with and turning the board on its side didn't dislodge the magnetic chess pieces. The checkers have no magnets in them. The bag that comes with it is pretty thin and won't offer up much protection. You have to take all the pieces out when playing and then take the time to put them back in when done. I could nit pick more about certain things but I'll leave that to others, just know it's like I said, a little rough around the edges and I do sit and wonder who exactly is sitting in some shop in a far away land spending their days making these sets. I just hope they are paid and treated well. I grew up playing chess and checkers and I do believe the games were a good way to get a young persons brain working towards critical thinking and having fun with friends and family.

The board is smooth and sturdy, and it can be folded up easily. The magnets are strong enough to prevent the pieces from falling off or sliding around, which would otherwise be frustrating when playing around kids who might bump and shift the pieces on the board!This is a great chess set for anyone who needs a good set to begin with. I do recommend this set!!
