Dormant "False Rose of Jericho" plants
This is a pack of 14 dormant plants known as the False Rose of Jericho. (The real Rose of Jericho is difficult to find here because it dies when uprooted, unlike these, which are a type of desert spike moss.) Some of the included plants are bigger, some are smaller, but all are a decent size.I had to Google instructions since none were included. Basically you put the plant root-side down into a shallow bowl with rocks or sand and fill water up to a level just below the tops of the rocks. Mine started to open within a couple hours and opened fully within two or three days. They even started to grow new roots into the water. They turned a healthy green in the light, though I too had some dried edges. If those bother you, you can just trim them off. You're supposed to let it dry out every now and again so that it doesn't rot. Or if you get tired of it, just let it go dormant again and take a break. I kept mine going for a couple weeks but I've let the water in the bowl dry out now and the plants have curled back up into the dormant form today. Very cool! There's a PBS clip online I found that said every plant has this gene to survive drought but only a hundred or so have actually turned it on.I'm a plant lover and have really enjoyed observing this plant! Even though instructions weren't included, they were easy to find with an internet search, and all the plants I've tried (four so far) have opened. This would be a great home science experiment, or just a fun curiosity for the plant lover in your life. I'm storing the dormant plant "balls" in clear vases like they are moss balls until I want to wake them up again, and I like how those look, too.Despite the lack of instructions, I give it five stars.

Watch it Come Alive
I like the novelty of these plants. We literally watched one come back to life- turn green and unfurl before our eyes. I guess I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do with all of them as I've only used one and there are several more in the box it came in. Would probably work well as small, unique gifts for others.

This is a very interesting plant.
This is a very interesting plant. It has no scent to it..I did exactly as it says In the description. As soon as I got it, I put it in a bowl of clean fresh water, and about 18 hours later, the picture I posted, is what it ended up to look like. I do like it because it looks like cedar. The only issue is, it does not come with any instructions at all on how to care for it. It tells you as soon as you get it to put it in water and that's it ....there's nothing on how to care for it. Do I Keep it in water constantly?.. do I let it dry out?..If I've never had any of these kind of plants, I guess I will have to google it.

Lamentable!!
Cuando recibí el paquete venían algunas que se veían que estaban cortadas y haciéndose pasar por otra independiente. Esto deja mucho que desear de la calidad que ofrecen. La más hermosa y grande la picaron en tres

False Rose of Jericho
This is a set of 12 Rose of Jericho plants, but I wanted to point out this is the False Rose of Jericho plant. It's a desert plant that can survive getting dried out. These arrive dried out and if you place them root side down in a shallow bowl of water and rocks it becomes green and comes back to life. These are really nice for children because they seem magic, and it is fine to let them dry out and then revive them repeatedly. Picture shows plant after 24 hours of rehydration.

Rose of Jericho would be great gifts for anyone who has a hard time with growing plants.
The media could not be loaded. I love everything about roses in Jericho, I had to get these boxes of (14) pieces they came in great condition and in different sizes. I wanted to get something for my house and to give it as gifts for the new year. I love how they came in different sizes so I can give them to people who may not have large places to put this plant. Rose of Jericho is a spiritual plant that won’t die. You just add water, and it gets green and when it needs water it turns brown and dries out. These would be great gifts for anyone who has a hard time with growing plants.

Super Disappointed in Sizes!
“I am very familiar with growing these. This is my second order from seller and I am highly disappointed this go around. The first time I ordered, I chose the 4 pack option that was available. They arrived fast and beautiful so I was happy to order again. However, only the choice of 14 pack option was available this time which was already strange. The plants all came substantially equal in size and looked healthy dried as well as activated. I have no idea what happened with this batch as some of them have more outer dead looking leaves (that almost appear moldy) than I am used to and a disappointing sizes.”WIFES REVIEW

Beautiful teaching tool (growing tips included!)
The media could not be loaded. My new zen garden!I ordered these as a trial to hand out to my congregation for a meditation over Easter. Not only does every one open (even the scraggly “runt” of the package), they close in an equally beautiful way. My order also came with a sweet note and I would love to talk to the “writer” about their experience with plants and healing. These can be amazing teaching tools for any age due to their rapid transformation under the right circumstances. I hope my tips help! This is a desert plant and requires desert treatment, which means minimal WARM water for opening and a need to dry out. These are less likely to bloom or will bloom very slowly in temperatures below 20C/68F - I live in a basement unit with my artificially lit garden. I also found that brighter light means bigger open. I am not sure if they will scorch like other plants, but I will update later. While the false Rose of Jericho is low maintenance, the tendency is to over water or try to treat it as a tropical or water plant, based on most peoples feedback on these plants (outside this seller). I found excellent care instructions at modandmint.com online. Just Google “mod and mint” rose of jericho care or just look up “how to care for a resurrection plant” and you should feel confident enough to open your plant. Remember that open does not mean huge and perfect; there will be dry pieces, just like your own hairs. My rules, so far:Remember this species is indigenous to the desert and plants do best when their natural environment is maintained.Use warm water, a small plate or saucer, and get creative. I am going to take out my grandmother’s china for my meditation, adding water each Sunday - see below on adding water.Use just enough warm water to get the bottom soaking. The one pictured soaked up about 1/4c of water at first, then only 1tbsp over two days to fully open.Don’t “plant” it, unless you plant it with a water guzzler. Planting means nothing more than setting it on top of the soil. I am trying it as a living surface monitor for some of my plants, primarily my spider plants, which are very thirsty growers.Do not water! Again, these are desert plants and may only get the occasional watering. I am trying a cycle where I water it with 1tbsp of water on Sunday. This encourages it to open and, so far, closes up during the week. Never leave it immersed in water, as it will get moldy quickly, which almost immediately kills the plant.Remove dead pieces. As above, they shed and some pieces will dry and break off. These breakdown and contribute to moss, so gently remove them. While difficult, you can kill selaginella lepidophylla by giving it too much attention, so just watch and let it grow! Each day since their arrival, I have started a new plant, using it to keep me focused at my desk. I love them and cannot wait to hand them out and hear others’ experiences with them.Highly recommend!
