I liked this movie very much:Beautiful and very inspiring. What seems impossible - does happen. Faith, determination, vision, passion, fight for victory despite all the circumstances around. A beautiful story - a catechesis that shows that even where there is death (black) - life (brightness) can emerge.

I've never been much of a fan of Amitabh Bachchan but in this movie, I totally understand why he is deemed a legend. Just goes to show you that if you have a decent project then it can bring out the best in you.Rani was also brilliant.I honestly couldn't fault this movie, bar again like most bollywood movies, they seem to leave out a couple of crucial scenes that would prevent the movie from ending unsatisfactorily, a bit like when you skip to the end.Sanjay Leela Bhansali - you're the man!Beautiful movie!

Black is an Indian version of the Helen Keller story of a deaf/blind child being helped through her disability by a very commited teacher.Both Amitabh Bachchan as Debraj Sahai the teacher and Rani Muckherjee as Michelle McNally the deaf/blind young adult are excellent as was the child who played the young Michelle. The film is beautifully shot, very moving and inspirational. It shows what can be done when one person refuses to give upon another.My only gripe is that the subtitles stop when you get to the added extras - us english speakers still like to know what the actor is saying when he's obviously waxing lyrical about his role in the film.Other than that watch and enjoy you won't be disappointed.

Quite simply 'Black' is beautiful. Believe the hype. For those that profess to love film, this is one that should be in every film library. Beautiful from start to finish.

Was recommended this film by an Indian on a plane to India. Long time ago but I have been longing to watch it again

No, this is grown up Indian cinema, something that stretches the brain. There are flaws in it, not least some moments of overacting, but the film tugs at the emotions in a satisfying, challenging way.

Für diesen Film gibt es in keiner Sprache dieser Welt,die passenden Worte um ihn auch nur annähernd zu beschreiben!Ich versuche es damit mal mit meinen eigenen..."Black" ist so warm und bis ins Detail perfekt gespielt,daß er zahlreiche Fassetten aufweißt.Ich war von der ersten Minute an so tief berührt, das ich nursagen kann, wenn ihr ihn euch anschaut habt Taschentücher parat!Es gibt Szenen die Angst machen und erschrecken, die abergleichzeitig so warm und liebevoll gespielt werdenund dann wieder lustig werden um daraufhin wieder bisins Mark zu erschüttern.Big B. als strenger Lehrer der versucht jemandem derweder hört noch sieht das Leben zu vermitteln , was er auchschafft auf ganz spezielle Art und Weise und mit viel Herz...Rani wie man sie noch nie gesehen hat, voller Angstund trotzdem mutig genug, in der Situation in der sie lebtzurechtzukommen und Leben zu verspüren...Die wunderschöne Rani Mukherjee völlig ungeschminkt ohneKitsch oder Glamour strahlt hier eine innere Schönheit ausdie unbeschreiblich ist...Black ist wirklich ein absolut anspruchsvoller Filmder einem sehr berührt und der meines Erachtens nach Oscarsverdient hätte, egal ob als bester Ausländischer Filmoder bestes Drehbuch oder die besten Hauptdarsteller.Hier gibt es auch keine Bollywoodtypischen Tanzszenen odertanzbare Lieder, denn der Film ist so ruhig und realistischgehalten das es nur das zerstören würde was die Handlunguns zu sagen versucht...Finde einen Weg deine Träume zu realisieren undkämpfe dich bis ans Ziel, egal welches Defizit du auchhaben solltest.Du kannst alles schaffen, wenn du dich nicht aufgibst.Es gibt immer jemand der fest an dich glaubt!Ein wunderschöner, zu Herzen gehender Film der zumnachdenken anregt & dafür gesorgt hat das ich Unmengenvon Tempos gebraucht hab!Auch wenn er einem noch lange nachängt......sollte man diesen herrlichen Film echt gesehen haben!

I am a Southasian film nut...this is no Bollywood film. This is one of the best films to come out of India. It is Cinematically one of the best films made in a very long time.It would be silly to suggest that one should not see the immediate reference to the Miracle Worker - Helen Keller's story...but one should definately be pleased with the creative departure taken by the writer and director of this great film, to go beyond and tell a deeper story. Expression is the key to this story and how Michelle is able to express her feelings both happy and sad, her angst both deep and low, her frustration high and tense is amazingly beautiful to watch. Some people I know who can speak, hear and see don'thave such an ability.The relationship between Michelle and her Teacher is so close and so intimate she can see and hear him and he can hear her...without a single word being exchanged. I love this story as it develops. Where the teacher initially reaches in to pull Michelle out of her darkness, in the end Michelle will reach in to pull him out. I don't want to say more than that because it would spoil the story. See this movie if you can get your hands on it. The actors are wonderful and add the special touch to making this one of my favorite movies of all time.

Der Film ist der beste Bollywood-Film, denn ich je gesehen hab. Dabei ist er gar nicht typisch für Bollywood, da es keine bunten Kulissen und auch keine Tanzszenen gibt. Aber das braucht der Film auch nicht. Wie schon der Name "Black" sagt, ist der ganze Film durchgehend in dunklen Farben gehalten, dennoch sehr ansprechend und kunstvoll.Mein größte Respekt gilt Rani Mukerji, die die taub-stumme und blinde Michelle einfach großartig darstellt. Es ist wirklich eine Meisterleistung, wenn man als Sehender und Hörender einen Taub-Stummen und Blinden spielt. Rani hat das wirklich überragend gemacht.Amitabh Bachchan hat mir auch super gefallen. Er hat seine Rolle sehr überzeugend dargestellt. In vielen Filmen spielt er den Alten, der jung geblieben ist,was nicht wirklich zu ihm passt. Aber die Rolle des Lehrers hat er unglaublich verkörpert.Auch das Mädchen, dass die kleine Michelle gespielt hat, muss erwähnt werden. Denn ihre Leistung war auch atemberaubend.Alles in Allem ist dieser Film ein Meisterwerk, das unbedingt gesehen werden muss!
