I've had this brace for less than two weeks...
...and I'm almost pain free already. My thumb had been almost crippled before I bought the brace. It works better than I thought it would.

I haven't decided yet./ Update 5/19/24/ Update 8/9/24
Update: I want to say after wearing this brace continually for almost 24 hours, I feel like it is helping. I have occasional pain if I bang it but other than that no spasms.I just received it today. I am not sure how I feel. It's not that comfortable but I am not surprised. I am not comfortable with this whole situation. Lol I want this to work because I don't want surgery. I have tried PT and was referred to a plastic surgeon for consultation and also was recommended to try this brace. I was using a compression glove that had an elastic wrist band. That made me feel secure and helped a lot with the pain but I had to keep taking it on and off to wash my hands, dishes etc. I will update my review in a few days.I highly recommend this brace. I purchased one for my right thumb. It has worked so well that I purchased one for my left thumb. It was starting to bother me so before it got worse I ordered another one. I am so happy it wasn't supposed to reach me until next week but came in today. Thank you to the PT that recommended this for me and for this company for making such a product at an affordable price.

I work at a major urban hospital. Several years ago I began experiencing pain in my right thumb joint and after x-rays, received a diagnosis of an arthritic, unstable CMC joint. My hospital's hand clinic custom fitted me with the hand splint in the photo on the right . Even with my "nice" hospital insurance, this still costed me $350. I wore it a lot, and it was definitely effective. The pain subsided, but I continued using it especially when texting on my cell phone. But, perhaps from stuffing it into my pockets or backpack, the splint cracked around the thumb opening. So, in the meanwhile I started wearing the soft brace instead....which is only 40% effective. The pain returned. However, I had challenges getting an appointment on the hand clinic again. On a lark, I searched Amazon for hand braces again and found this one. Some of the reviews indicated that patient's doctors (in areas which presumably don't have hand clinics) were suggesting this splint. I ordered it and have experienced a major reduction in pain, always when I wear it, and more and more when I don't wear it to the point I forget I have an issue. That indeed was a very productive search because this splint is much cheaper, more durable, and I would say about 90% as effective as the hand clinic's splint, though I think that splint was more protective. I'm also not sure how long the velcro on this splint will last. So far so good after a couple of months.Do consider this splint even though it's substantially more than the soft ones. It's far more effective and used by some medical professionals.

Not for long term use
I loved the support that this brace provides. It limits movement in the exact area of the problem. That said, recently, the velcro stopped sticking together. Since I've had the brace for 7 months, I contacted customer service to see if this is an issue the company has addressed. The kind reply basically said " you're on your own ". So, I would not recommend this for those who can't afford to keep buying these over and over again for long term use. It's a good brace otherwise

Very helpful
My only negative about this thumb brace is: after wearing it for a couple of hours, the first web space becomes tender. One must remove it for a needed respite.
