A Wild Ride
I have been reading this book like some people eat broccoli. It's good for your mind and gives you a wider perspective on the world. But not easy reading and can deflate your ego. Not only because it depicts what a minute part of the universe we comprise but by comparison to the intellect of the persons who sort this all out. The two books by Hawking set out the findings and speculations of physicists without getting into the details of how they made these determinations, which would require an understanding of higher mathematics. But the reader is still mentally challenged.

Great book with lots of illustrations
Great book with lots of illustrations. I am a college graduate but there were portions that were difficult for me to understand the first time. Allow yourself the freedom of reading a small section and rereading it until you uhh understand. You'll be glad you did

Big Book
I knew a lot about this book before I ordered it. But when it arrived, I was shocked at just how big the book is. It's really neat and the seller exceeded my expectations at the rating of this book.

Illustrations could use some work, but great overall.
I think Steven Hawking does a pretty good job of explaining the universe (then again, what do I know?). The illustrations are sort of lame, and don't really seem to actually assist the text too often, so it'd be nice if they could make them a bit more informative. Either way, wonderful reads.

If you want your mind blown...
...this is the book to pick up. I originally started reading the unillustrated version, but when I found this version online which included The Universe in a Nutshell, I had to have it. The illustrations are so helpful and Dr. Hawking does his best to keep things in layman's terms.I wasn't even at Chapter 2 yet and my brain was leaking out of my ears.I can't read this book in front of the TV (like I do with most books) or if I have a lot on my mind. I have to dedicate 100% of my attention to it, but it's so worth it.
