Valobra Soaps have been made in Genoa, Italy, since 1903; however, the Genoese tradition of soap-making spans back to the mid seventeenth century. Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Louis XVI's financial advisor and Minister of Industry of Marseille and Toulouse, called upon Genoese soap-makers for consultation in establishing the famous 'Marseillese' method, or, the cooking of the soap-cream with an open furnace.Valobra uses the purest ingredients, and, most importantly, employs a long desiccation, in order to let the cream dry out (6 months minimum) in order to become a perfect bar of soap.All of Valobra soaps have a delicate scent and none have the garish whiff of cologne or perfume too-often found in many 'fancy' soaps, making them kitsch. The Lettuce scent is ideal for the summer, while in the winter the Reseda ('reseda' or 'weld' plant) is best, for it is more nourishing.

I was introduced to this Soap by a Family member who has been using it since she was 12 years old back home in Italy. This Soap is great, natural, and leaves your Skin Feeling like silk. I also use it with a Loofa Glove, while in the Sauna or the Steambath. Great for cleansing the Skin and leaving it completely soft. 5 stars Hands down.
