Fantastic value, function for the price! (Let me share my "Journey" on the install)
The Hook 2 is a great product for those that want to really understand the structure of any lake with great screen resolution, mapping and abilty to operate the GUI. I am very impressed. This will serve any 10ft Kayak to much larger boat on the water. Of course you can spend a ton more money if your so inclined or need. Mounting the head unit was simple of the deck of my SOT Pelican Catch 100; easy-peasy. The transducer on the other-hand was the "Journey" First I didn't want to have to buy mounting arms to hang it over the side. For one the mounting arms out their for Yaks are designed for much smaller Transducers such as the SplitShot. Also having crap hang over the side of a Kayak is no fun when you're fishing shallow waters or have a 6lbs LM Bass wrap itself around the transducer. These transducers and the mounting hardware are more designed/engineered for a traditional John Boat or other square & flat sterned boat; they simply were not "design" or thought to be used on a Fishing Kayak. So? I was determined to have this sit on the bottom of my hull and utlize one of the Scupper holes to feed the transducer cable in a clean install without mounting arms or cables all over the the Yak. So before you read on about how I solved my Transducer install, let me finish with saying that as a sonar/scanner "Fish Finder" the Hook 2 is a great product and will serve even a tournament fisherman(woman) well. Read on for the install and hopefully the attached pictures or of some interest. The following are excerpts from two other product reviews of items I bought to assist in the install. The "Journey":Review of the Lowrance 000-10606-001 Kayak Scupper Mount for Skimmer Type Transducers:The Lowrence site make no mention that this product works only for a SplitShot transducer. Fortunate as an engineer with the right tools I was able to modify this to work, it took some out of the box thinking. I used this along with the BerleyPro Hobie Lowrance Triple Shot Transducer Mount for the installation I wanted. ( I have also copied for your information if this helps, my review of this mount) The bottom mount for one was too narrow and shallow for the TripleShot as the connection gear is larger on the TripleShot. Let me say if your using a Splitshot this product is Perfect! and easy to install. I was fortunate to have a hull shape on my Kayak that allowed my install to work with some cutting and engineering. Not the biggest of deal breakers, but really required me to think this through. The Pictures show what I am conveying. The BerlyPro mount is needed for a bottom hull install as the TripleShot would be exposed to potential damage from shallow water of getting the Yak out of the water and the weight of the TripleShot would not be adequately supported from this Lowrence Scupper Mount. My biggest complaint was the Tech-Staff at Lowrence was completely unaware of this in the least bit what-so-ever. They were dumb-founded.From review on the BerleyPro Hobie Lowrance Triple Shot Transducer Mount -BP2610:I was fully aware that this BerleyPro Hobie Lowrance Triple Shot Transducer Mount was for a Hobie Yak. However, the triple shot is much longer than a split shot of traditional chirp/down scan only transducers, thus, using arms hanging over the side of your yak from Yak-Attack or Scotty leaves it prone to movement and requires constant adjustment, especially if your fishing through heavy weeks flipping and pitching or shallow water. I used and adapted this to the bottom of the hull for my Pelican Catch 100. Fortunately the bottom is dead flat and I was able to adapt this to sit not only on the bottom but to have the mount utilize one of the scupper holes for a clean install. the two side pontoons of my hull leaving this safe from hitting the bottom. I attached this product using Well/Hull nuts and a combination of 3M 5200 & 4200 Sealant. Works like a charm! If you own a Hobie, your in luck! the Hull is already formed to receive this and all you need to do is screw it in with the factory installed hull/well nuts. Good Luck

Easy to use
This unit replaced a 40 year old Hummingbird depth finder. The Hook2 has GPS, maps, alarms, sonar, all very easy to use.

Super awesome and super user friendly!!!
The media could not be loaded. I have nothing but good things to say about this unit. Being an avid fisherman I wanted something easy and quick that would let me get all the features without going through a ton of menus and a ton of "adjusting". The Hook2 5 does just that for me. Its super easy to setup and super easy to use all the features that come with it. You cannot be disapointed in buying this product. Compare the price of this unit to others and you will see you dont need to spend all that money to get sidescan, downscan and Chirp not to mention maps and GPS. The clarity screen display is awesome. On this unit you can also scroll back. If you see something and want to go back and locate it and waypoint it you can. Lowrance did a great job with this unit. I can not wait till the spring of 2019 so I can get out there and really work it.Pros:-Downscan-Sidescan-Under $500-Easy to install and setup-Compact-Easy on batteries-Amazing maps!Cons:-None as of today! Will update when I get more time with the unit and I expose it to the elements.

The Perfect Size
I had always wanted to get a Lowrance sounder for my Hobie Revolution 13 "Lowrance Ready" Kayak. But the feature and units they have can get overwhelming fast. It really boils down to a couple of different size factors for me. I found a place that had the Hook2 5,7, 9 and 12 inch screen sizes all next to each other. The 5" is actually bigger than I thought, and the quality of the display is excellent and bright. Although I have not had the unit running yet out on the water yet. Hoping to see some exciting views and visuals with the all in one Triple Shot transducer! Special hull plate can be found for the triple shot transducer. This particular unit comes preloaded with maps for 4000 lakes! Except the most important lake of all "Lake Havasu". But I digress. The unit along with the Hobie kit installs perfectly. I used the 1.5 inch ball Hobie Ball systems and swivel mounts which help extend the Unit towards you depending on placement, and to keep it perfectly in place based on the amount of motion and jarring you can get while on the water.I was able to place the unit on my left just forward of the rudder controls, just aft of the first foot notch. I used a slide lock ball mount for the hull attachment. Keeping it on the top rail, allows for maximum articulation of the brackets.Once back from the trip, I'll try and update this review for the brightness effects, and some pics of the installation while in operation on the water.

Bright screen and simple to use.....I like it.
This locator is just the right size to use on my boat and on my UTV as a gps. I have only used it a few times but I am super impressed with the features. The triple shot is awesome...I can see in all directions. When I take this ice fishing I can use the side views to help me locate structure and fish under the ice ....no need to guess if I am in the right spot...the locator will tell where to move. The display was easier to read in direct light than my last unit. I like to play with the settings but being able turn it on and automatically set up is nice. I think I will still make adjustments for my style.Overall I am pleased with the purchase and I bought another hook2 for my nephew as an early Christmas present.I found the mounting really easy and anyone who is handy with basic tools should have no problem. The triple shot transducer is a little larger that I thought it would be but it certainly is not in the way. Beacuase I am in Canada 🇨🇦 I am adding a map chip of Canadian lakes. I was also pleasantly surprised at the clarity of the screen....at 52 my eyesight isn’t that great so I couldn’t possibly go with any smaller of a screen. The downscan imaging is a nice feature, I thought it may be hard to interpret but it was good.
