Well written
I know some of the families in the book, so I ordered extra copies to be delivered to friends. If your interested in this type of history, it’s worth a read

Interesting
I grew up next to this site but never fully realized the effect it had on the people who had lived there and were displaced. This is my back yard history. I only knew it as the Ammo Dump - not a place that had been home to many families.I found it well written and recognized the area.If you or a family member lived in any of these four towns I think you will find it a valuable history lesson not talked about in those towns.

Neighborhood kid
Being one of the neighborhood kids in the early 50’s( lived at 3 Fairfield St.) that would venture into the ammo dump near Crowe Park. This book filled in what we as kids did not know the relevance of this protected area. Dr. Paul J. Chyzus

Good history lesson with inconsistent writing
The history is interesting and very insightful. The writing is inconsistent throughout the book, and feels very disjointed. It felt like reading the first draft and it would have benefitted from another rewrite.

The old days
The book brought back memories of what it was like to have your property acquired by the government for the war effortThis affected a lot of families in many ways. The authors provided great detail of the process and the results that caused many changes in families lives. About 20% of the town was acquired for this purposeIt was well detailed to provide the history of the land and the people who lived there.I highly recommend it

Well thought out and researched, a beautiful story.
The authors took their time and did their research to share the stories of these families. The book was well thought out and keeps you enraptured from start to finish. A wonderful history of the local area.
