for those that haven't had a megaminx yet, let me say its i bit smaller than you expect but its really fun to solve it can do slice turns and looks good in a collection. this is the best megaminx i've ever had

When I recently learned how to solve the 3x3, I wondered what other puzzles were out there. The MegaMinx is the perfect followup. Nearly identical in difficulty to a 3x3, the MegaMinx will require you to learn a few extra steps for the final layer. It also takes longer to solve than a 3x3, so it will provide you with a bit more entertainment.Now onto this particular hedron. The Dayan MegaMinx looks great. The colors are painted directly on as opposed to stickers which get dirty and start to peel off. And they really pop and cover each entire face. However it's worth noting that the cream and white colors could potentially be confusing, especially if speed is your goal. In practice I haven't actually had too much of a problem, but it would've been a lot nicer if they had used, say, black instead.The hedron has a nice glossy finish, but also has slightly recessed pieces, aiding in grip. Turning is relatively smooth, but it does not compare with the smoothness of the top 3x3 cubes. It is also surprisingly easy to encounter a corner twist, a big drawback.You can see the size compared with my hand in the photo. It feels a bit small to me, although realistically this type of puzzle is more commonly thought of as a toy for kids, and the smaller size aims a little more towards that target rather than an adult. It feels a little more like a baseball and a little less like a softball, which makes turning smoothly a little tougher.This hedron is not perfect, and at close to $40 I was expecting a little more. Nevertheless, these aren't so much concerns about the item as they are opportunities for improvement. For the price you are still getting a very nice looking functional and fun puzzle that will last a long time if treated with some care. A true economist might argue it is priced well because it's right on the edge of what I would consider paying. I'd really like this item in the $25 to $29 range considering the drawbacks mentioned above. For $40, I'd like to see a bit smoother turning, more resistance to corner twists, and a slightly larger size.For this reason I rate the product 4 stars instead of 5, but for those interested in a puzzle like this I can still recommend the item. You can feel confident with this purchase; I know I am happy with mine.

People are right, in my personal opinion the Dayan magnetic megaminx is slightly better than the new gan megaminx. it even comes with its own replacement black caps straight out of the box. Better flicking, better corner cutting, and better grip. Consider me a very happy owner of both but if I could go back I would just buy the Dayan.

Absolutely LOVE the puzzle. Super stable and easy/fast to turn. Only gripe was that it looks like mine may have been a return because it wasn't wrapped in the box and it was missing the extra springs (though it did still have the extra black pieces, thankfully). There was no other obvious wear and tear, so not the end of the world, but still kind of bummer when paying full price for what appears to have been an open box (with spare parts missing).

Out of the box this cube is great. The layers turn easily, but, the layers that you don't want to turn do not become dislodged so easily and I feel like the grip is more secure. It seems to be smaller than other cubes and the weight is heavy enuff to feel secure but not too heavy. It will take me awhile to figure out if I really can solve faster with this Megaminx, but, overall the cube is very satisfying to solve. This cube costs a little less than my "former" main cube so it's a win win as far as I am concerned.

The plastic feels a bit cheaper than I expected for this price, but the puzzle turns very well and the magnets feel great, I'm very happy with it!
