Absorene Book Cleaner and Dirt Eraser (Bundle- 2 Items) for Cleaning Dirt and Dust Off Books and Documents

Recently purchased some older periodicals that were wet at some point and had some issues with dirty and mildew. I used this product kit to thoroughly clean each and every page of the periodicals, which were about 50 separate magazines with about 100 pages each. It was a bit of a process to say the least, but these products works very well for what I needed them for, which was removal of dirt and mildew staining. I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

Super well known product that just does it's job. It's not for aggressive cleaning and is not designed for that.

The magic sponge, sort of a modified gummy eraser works well for cleaning off light dirt and peciln markings from books. One swipe and you can see the dirt on the sponge. It’s sturdy, you don’t need to put much pressure on it. Just begin at one side of a page, and gently run across the surface in one direction. Do not rub back and forth, or in spirals, just lightly and gently in one direction, and repeat until clean. The putty cleaner works by rolling a rod of it in your hand, then roll across the surface of the book your cleaning. Great for delicate paper. Never rub, just roll in one direction all over the page. When the eraser is dirty, you can knead it to a cleaner spots and continue. Great for light soot, dirt, dust. I use it to gently clean the surfaces of old books, and found that it works extremely well. Just remember not to scrub, or put much pressure on either. Though it may take an extra few wipes, doing so will maintain the integrity of the paper. I recommend this for used books. A great product if you use it correctly.

This is a pretty awesome product for cleaning dirt and grime off of valuable comics or books. I practiced on older, tattered comic books and found it to work very well. It's a slow process as the play-dough/silly-putty type material incrementally cleans as it lifts off dirt and some stains. So using this requires patience.Absorene works excellently when used with a Magic Eraser sponge. You take off the bulk of the grime with the Magic Eraser (CAREFUL: Magic Erasers are extremely abrasive and can easily damage the paper), then remove more dirt with the Absorene putty. Alternating between the 2 (Magic Eraser - Absorene - Magic Eraser - Absorene) gave me the best results. The Absorene picks up the dust generated by the Magic Eraser, so use the Absorene last.

Used the eraser a ton on collectibles. Almost a runner like material. It’s gotten a little gray in corners w me scrubbing but it doesn’t wear away like an eraser.The absorene book cleaner though did absolutely nothing on a few books. Maybe it’s good to get dirt out of canvass covers or crevasses on the border. But not on flat surfaces.

This was great at completely cleaning mildew off of old books. It will not damage and can greatly help. The complaints seem to be from people who did not follow the directions. Use it over newspapers or something else you can throw away.

Purchased to clean up slightly dirty book pages. Didn’t work and left pink marks from the paste.

So glad I learned about these items! I have some old books from the 1960’s that had gotten moist and had dirty. These products are doing a great job cleaning the books up, easily and quickly. Can’t wait to try them on other items around the house.
