The brackets are a solid metal and are supporting the 10 and 12 foot long 4x4 used. I’m only using a tarp for cover so not a lot of weight, but feels very sturdy.These brackets made putting up a shade structure in my back yard so easy. I did watch a few videos to gain some confidence. But once I was done with the build was I so happy with the outcome.

These worked really well with my new deck, made for a decent grade steel and coated black. Comes with plenty of fasteners.

My wife wanted a big pergola, so we built this with 10 ft spans and 8 ft legs. Like everyone says, the screws provided are beveled and should be flat. But, good luck finding black flat heads screws at HD. The brackets themselves looks nice: hefty, compression welded and powder coated. No concern about durability. However, once you get the structure erected, there's a lot of play and it's not stable. We put 2 foot braced at 45 degree angles on all the corners which made a huge difference. For the roof, instead running perlins on top, we flush mounted 2x4 rafters using AXWHYS Concealed Joist Hangers which matched perfectly and makes it looks much more professional. For an even more polished look, sand and stain the wood before you start.

Once opened I discovered that every one of the 12 pieces were scratched through the "powder coating" to expose bare metal. I question that they were even powder coated. It wasn't like any powder coating I have ever seen. It was more like cheap paint. At least one piece was even dented. I'm thinking about returning all of it and risk a reorder with the potential for the same damage. I checked the openings of the brackets to see if they would allow a 4x4 to fit and it will be necessary to plane down every 4x4 (12 ) to make them fit. The screws were falling out of the thin plastic bag into the shipping box and scratching brackets. The thin screws looked more like drywall screws and the light weight anchors were only 1 1/4 inch long and can't be trusted to hold in the event of a strong wind.
