Takes persistence and a powerful drill, but works.
I'm using this to get access in 1.5" floorboards to run cables. It does the job well but you need a powerful drill to sustain the torque required to cut the rebate whilst pushing down on the drill without the clutch engaging. The absolutely WILL NOT be any use if you have a small battery powered drill. I am using a large mains SDS (in rotary-only mode) and even it clutches out sometimes. This cutter needs slow torque, it cannot be used at high speed or you risk burning the floor or damaging the cutter.Secondly the rebate cutters are a bit deep for the matching silverline hole plugs - it's difficult to know when to stop cutting and the result is the plugs sit slightly sub-flush, causing a dip in the carpet that you can certainly feel, if not see. When I finalise my installation I intend to fix the plugs in place with a rim of polyfilla and put a thin sheet of foam over the top to make up the very slight height difference.Note you also need to buy the appropriate arbor and the floor plugs separately. It would be nice is this was a kit, hence not full stars for value. The integral pilot drill is a handy feature. With slow and patient drilling I have not noticed any damage to the cutter unlike some other reviews.

Does what it does
I bought this needing to route some AV cables and rather than lifting lots of floorboards, cutting tongues out etc. This seemed ideal.I've a 3kg SDS drill and this drove it quite easily cutting good clean holes which the corresponding covers slot into snuggly. So got the job done much quicker, got easy access if I need to adjust in the future.Downside is that I did leave red marks from the cutter on the floor boards, but since they are covered by carpet (and always will be) this is no big deal - not to mention that of course the covers are plastic so you'd never be using this in an area which will remain on show.Other thing to be cautious with is that this a fixed depth thing, you have to drill all the way down to cut the rebate required for the covers to sit in to remain flush. Then if your boards are shallower than the cutter depth, then it'll be cutting down into whatever's beneath - e.g. floor joists. Not sure this is something which could be easily fixed without a completely different design, and not a problem if you know how your floor is laid out.

Poor design
The cut is good but the rebate is too deep, meaning that there is only 1cm left of the board and the discs sit too low leaving a dip when the carpet covers.I have since modified the saw and it now works a treat.

Heavy hole cutter for floor inspection covers.
Use a good drill, the pilots needs to be set shallow.. ( just through the floor wood )

As good as other brands
Nice and easy to use and cheaper than other well known brands. All arbors are interchangeable so would probably consider other silver line products as well how

Great for cable access in chipboard
Bugged me this thing cuts through chip board quick great for limited acces and any tradesman/woman will tell you chip boards a pain. Used these at home to fit down lights downsairs accessing cable routes but when I fitted the disks or plastic blanks I noticed it sit slightly too low leaving a slight depression in the carpet just a couple of mm dunno if it's the disks or the cutter but easily remedied with all the saw dust you now have and a bit of wood glue. Not to be used near joins in the chip board as most are tong and grove and may have floating joints(not resting on joists/rafters)

Did the job.
Did what I needed it to do but I did only have to cut two holes. Didn't give 5 star rating as I had to buy the bit attachment as a separate item.
