RM Products Military Round Protractor

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the company sent the protractor pre-trimmed! Useful tool, right out of the package, awesome cheat sheet for all of your land navigation needs. I wish the printing was a little more embossed, and the plastic is a little brittle compared to the military protractors, but this is a far superior tool otherwise.

I keep this and one of the heavy duty square protractors handy. The square one I used on maps and short distances, this round one with the elastic I use for azimuths and long distances (thanks to the long scale in the middle).I'm taking one star off for 2 reasons: the plastic it is made from could be slightly thicker. I usually see these crack at the corners of the 1:25k scale. Mine hasn't yet, and I've abused it (as a grunt), so it may be good. The other reason is the elastic string. It comes undone sometimes, and it is also not very accurate unless you are being extremely careful with it. One day I hope to see a version with a tiny plastic arm that pivots in the middle and gives good accuracy quickly

I used this for a 2 day land navigation class and by the end of the class, the printing was already wearing off, making it hard to read. Junk.

USGS maps commonly use 1:24000. Don't plan on using this protractor with those maps, because there's no 1:24000 measurement tool on it.It's a great tool, just make note if you need 1:24000.

The product was broken but it was also nothing even close to the description. Worthless trash.
