More mature content than wanted
I bought this for my 14 year old to use for audition pieces. Wasn't expecting almost every monologue to either have sexual overtones or profanities, or both.

Highly recommended!
If you are trying to get into Drama School or just maybe practice some monologues to keep challenging yourself and working on your craft, this monologue book is for you! I highly recommend it!A little disclaimer: if it wasn't for Dee Cannon's help in choosing my monologues with me and coaching me, I probably wouldn't have gotten into Drama School (in the UK). The good thing is that this book is a lot cheaper than a private coaching lesson with one of the top acting coaches in the UK and USA who works constantly with loads of famous people and actors that are always appearing on your screen! Can't wait to have Oberon publish a book of duologue scenes selected by Dee! Please, Oberon, Please! Another one of her strengths!

Rocking monologues!
Bought her book of Monologues for Men first. My students and I found fantastic pieces in it. So I bought her book of monologues for women, and I wasn’t disappointed. Already recommending it to students. Her choices and her notes about the pieces and about monologue auditioning are great!

I love this book
I love this book! Dee is a brilliant teacher and this book is a must-have for auditioning. Selecting and prepping monologues for auditions can be daunting but Dee demystifies it and gives you the tools you need to succeed.

An exciting tool for the actor's craft
Dee Cannon’s Modern Monologues for Women: Teens to Thirties will save you from the panic of finding an audition monologue at the last minute and will excite you in your daily practice. As an actor for the past decade, I am committed to the constant development of my craft and this book is my co-player when I want to challenge myself by working on some of the most poignant contemporary plays, or when I only have 15 minutes in the day to shake up my comedy skills. The format is very practical, with space for notes next to each monologue, and the text is edited to the ideal 1 to 2 minutes length. I absolutely recommend it!

Issue heavy.
Whilst I agree that theatre should reflect life I don't agree that everybody's life should contain sex, violence, drug abuse and racial slurs at all times. This book is totally useless for any teacher looking for texts for more 'friendly' monologues. I find it hard to believe that Oberon could not include one monologue that had any degree of subtlety. It is possible to have drama without all that other stuff. Overly 'issue' heavy and totally useless.

Best monologue book I have
I'm currently auditioning for drama schools in London and this book is full of really versatile monologues that I could use to suit many different schools. There are some lighthearted and some quite emotional. I feel I will not only use this book for now but when I hopefully make a career for myself. Great purchase and I would highly recommend to anyone fussy as I really am!

... book really helped me find a speech that I liked for drama school auditions
This book really helped me find a speech that I liked for drama school auditions, and I then bought the plays associated with the speeches I liked. There was a big choice and wide range of speeches, and it was very useful to me.
