Utility quality, but works
This unit is not very smooth in operation, but works. The cable adjustments are different from original. I had to adjust cable blocks out to the absolute end of Yamaha specs to make it shift without overlap of gears.

Broken after several uses
Both trim/tilt switches broken after several uses. I bought this item last summer when I was building my 21’ skiff. The controls were only warranted for 6-months. I finally finished my boat this winter. I had only used the boat several times when both switches broke. Of course, this occurred at 7-months after purchase. I disassembled the switches and was not impressed with the quality. They could not be repaired. They are junk. The rest of the unit appears to built ok, but I never had the chance to put many hours on it. Having the switche(s) fail is not only a huge disappointment, a pain in my wallet, but a safety issue. This is not a lake boat. I need to be able to lower my auxiliary kicker motor in case my main engine fails.Seller (in China) will not budge other than to discount item 25%. OEM switches are approx. $170.00 without tax and shipping. When I asked them to possibly honor warranty under these circumstances, they quit all communication.Do yourself a favor, buy once an cry once ... buy the original Yamaha binnacle from a US vendor ... and enjoy some product support and good customer service. I have bought a used binnacle off of an auction site to replace this one ... so I’m out the $300 that this one cost. I don’t think I could trust it to perform if it was replaced by the same unit with the same crappy switches.

Save some bucks
This unit appears to be an exact after-market copy of the OEM 703. Use the money you save to buy new cables and have enough left over for a nice dinner out.

Do not work well on old Yamahas
The gears are assembled different in the gear box. At first I thought it was an error, but I ordered a second and the gear for throttle was the exact same way. I ended up using my old throttle gear which matched perfectly and the issue was fixed. Beware old Yamaha owners this is not the control for you. Your throttle will not work right straight out of the box. I advise going OME or a different after market. This is not the product for you, your motor will start up with the throttle as high as it will go.

Worked well. Easy to install, Just as good as regular equipment.
It worked as I hoped. Went in and replaced original equipment with no problems. Installed in 2 hours.
