Wishbone: A Tale In Twain
"What's the story Wishbone?" Wishbone is a dog that loves classic literature and has a big imagination. In each episode there is a story in Oakdale with Joe Talbot and his friends and of course his dog Wishbone. And then in the other part of the episode Wishbone plays the roles of different characters in the books he reads. He acts like the character but makes the role he plays in the episodes very funny with his Wishbone style humor. This was the first episode of Wishbone and the story is about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn always looking for adventure and getting into some trouble when they try to find some. In the other story in this episode Joe and his friends back in Oakdale want to go to the No Name Grave for some excitement because summer is almost over only to find someone digging up the grave! The cast and crew do a good job at making classic literature fun for kids, and it made me want to check out a few books at my library that I would have never read if it weren't for Wishbone. So get these tapes because they are fun to watch and they get you in the mood to read the books they show in the episode, and if Wishbone can get you to read classic literature, you can read anything! :)

Best children’s tv program ever
I owned 3 Jack Russells that watched the Wishbone series with me when it was on TV. The Kaplans asked to buy my male as a double for Wishbone but I couldn’t part w/him. Then they bought a dog tack box my husband made & I painted Wishbone on it. This is a trip down memory lane for me but for children it is a great incentive to read books.

Clear
Good clear episode but a bit pricey for only one episode.

Fun, gentle viewing with education as a bonus!
I love Wishbone! Hoping they offer more titles on DVD. If you've not watched "Wishbone ", these are wonderful synopses of classics set around a boy and his dog ( or a dog and his boy) and their family/community. These not animatedly and heartwarming. A lesson is always available by the end that pertains to Wishbone's boy(Joe) predicament or dilemma. This particular episode features Jules Vern's "Journey to the Center of the Earth ". These are wonderful and gentle viewing for young people...and you get a "Cliff Notes" version of the classic!

Wishbone...the dog, not the dressing
Remember these? Wishbone combines present live-action with literary settings...all featuring a dog whose thoughts we get to hear...and this is a smart dog. Good addition for homeschooling - for alternative viewing to cartoons. In this case it presents Jules Verne in a way that kids may appreciate and perhaps even draw them into reading the classic. Wishbone is gradually fading from memories - use this to bring the little dog back.

Right in the childhood
It's wishbone, what kid from the 90s isn't going to want their kid to watch wishbone?! I wish they had all of the episodes on one disc, but this will have to do. Very happy with the product, picture quality and sound quality are great.
