No stunt doubles.
Movie stars, papparazzi, studios, director, making the almight $$$$$. Knowing when to keep your mouth shut and when to let out the expletives. Seeing how one bad move on the stars part has agents, managers, producers dumping her without knowing the real story.Avalon Randolph is an up and coming star who is doing her own stunts (chases, driving cars, etc.). Paige Cornish is a photo journalist who uses the Hollywood industry for her ideas. The book she's woking on is going to be called "Cut to the Chase" where she documents action stars doing their own stunts.Paige and Avalon just didn't know they were going to have a better time than either anticipated.

no depth, but drama...
the book follows the impetuous life of a movie star, larger-than-life celebrity, Avalon, and her flourishing (but potentially doomed) romance with a photographer/writer, Paige, who is tasked with creating an art (photography) book on action films in the movie industry. this novel shows the unglamorous, often caricature-like depiction of fame and celebrity -- an element that interrupts the otherwise perfect pairing of Avalon and Paige. the book also offers a quick crash-and-burn effect on the romance... only to redeem it later. the plot is too hurried to develop the characters fully leaving so much of the depth missing from the story. as a result, there is little that is spectacular about the book or new & refreshing leaving it: simply decent enough.

It was okay.
This book was decent and a quick, easy read. The plot was fun, but I don't think that the characters were consistent. They kept doing things that were on the verge of not fitting their personalities, which pulled me out of the story. There was a lot of missed opportunity for more exciting subplots and themes that would have made this story much richer. Plus, there were the clunky, awkward analogies, such as: "With the gentleness that the seeds of a dandelion globe float through the air, their lips met."I can only take so much of that.Overall, it wasn't too bad. I probably enjoyed it about as much as I enjoy Radclyffe's style, with her overly-perfect, flawless characters and too-technical medical scenes.

Wonderful!
I must say that this story kept me anchored to my seat. I have a tendency to try and guess how each character will fair in a story and I found myself creating a scenario for the characters and those yet to be revealed in the book and see how close I come to the ending Lisa Girolami created. Wonderful story that makes us believe in love and destiny. I await with anticipation Ms. Girolami's next book!

She never cuts to the chase!
Ms. Girolami never disappoints and this one is no exception. Well-written with fleshed out characters and not the usual run of the mill romance. I loved the interesting facts thrown in, especially the origin of the phrase 'cut to the chase'. It was very nicely done and I will read it again.

Really Fun
Great dialogue, likeable characters, a peek into the world of movie making and the dark side of celebrity. Terrific pace. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

A fictional documentary of a Hollywood celebrity wrapped in a romance novel.
Reflecting on this read I realise how complex but straightforward it is; complex in that it had depth of knowledge, detail and critical evaluation of Hollywood and 'celebrity' but yet straight forward in the overall direction and plot. As such it was a light but intelligent read that I can certainly recommend.
