STAR WARS The Black Series Padmé Amidala, The Phantom Menace Collectible 6-Inch Action Figure, Ages 4 and Up

As I said in my review for TBS little Ani, TPM is my unqualified favorite SW film. On top of that, Padme is my favorite SW character, so ya know, pretty biased here. Padme's wardrobe completely steals the show in every scene, and I'm so glad they kicked things off with my favorite TPM outfit, the raid on Theed Royal Palace red velvet battle tunic.Now when it comes to the figure, high marks for the likeness. It's not quite as impeccable as little Anakin, but pretty close to the mark, similar to the Geonosis Padme in that respect. Her hair sculpt is great, hairline is a little fuzzy. I think they tried to adjust it later in production based on the earlier promo images.Sculpt is pretty good, but something seems a little off between head and body size. I also think the sleeves are also a little oversculpted. Too many folds with too much volume in them, so they really look strange doing anything but hanging by her side.The costume is fairly well done. I think it should be slightly darker maroon, or could use a wash to bring out some of the velvety texture that is and should be there. Gold trim, pink inner lining, and belt buckle accents look great. Mud deco on the boots kinda surprising but accurate. The half skirt is very flexible and so doesn't hinder the leg movement.On that, her articulation is surprisingly outstanding. Very smooth, stable joints and great range especially in the neck, shoulders, and hips. Knees and elbows are probably weakest, but the waist gets some surprisingly good wobble.Accessories are puzzling. All those rumors that Lucasfilm doesn't like alternate hands and heads, well here's your counterexample. An alternate hand plain as day in the box, just to hold a different blaster? Where was the extra hand for Glavis Mando to hold his knife? And all the other alt hands that have been missing? I'll take it where I can, but this is hardly the most necessary. I appreciate the extreme attention to detail on the ascension gun's chunky grip, but they could've just made it met halfway with the smaller blaster.And speaking of the smaller blaster, weakest part of the figure by far. The prop is memorably extremely chrome silver. Why is this blaster dull gray and not silver? I guess so it can have some extending barrel gimmick. They should've included separate blasters with both barrel lengths and silver, chrome paint on each. Or if they really must only include one, then the long barrel form since the AoTC Padme got the short one. Make Panaka and Naboo royal guards and give them different versions. As is, this blaster is kind of a sad. Overall though, this is the best TBS figure I've bought in a while, since maybe Dooku or Jar Jar.

Great representation of TPM Padme with very functional articulation. She has the standard hip construction instead of the awful 45-degree hips that hindered the poseability of the earlier Black Series AOTC Padme figure.May have been further improved with soft goods for the lower skirt section, but the plastic skirt is well-designed and soft enough to not limit most poses. An extra generic handmaiden head could have bolstered this one as a potential army-builder, but why worry about extra sales, right?The packaging doesn't tell you anything about the figure's features, which is puzzling. Why do people have to read a random online review to find out that the barrel of the smaller silver/gray blaster extends and retracts? Because nothing in or on the box has that information.

This Padme figure turned out pretty good.Padme comes with a blaster pistol, the grapple gun and an extra hand.Figure looks great in my opinion and is worth the price in my opinion.

She looks better than shown in my opinion and she has good mobility for posing. I’m thrilled to add her to my growing Padmé collection.She also arrived 2 months ahead of the original estimated date so that’s an added bonus!

Although her face doesn't look as accurate as the AOTC Padmé figure, this figure is better in articulation. Her small Naboo blaster is adjustable in length and she comes with a swappable hand for that small weapon. She's a great addition for a Prequel collection.
