Wild Birds 1985 - 1995: Best Of

While Mr. Murphy was the leader of the goth classic band Bauhaus he has done remarkably well as a solo artist as well. This CD covers his career up to 1995 and includes the two most moving songs for me. "Cuts You Up" and the inexcapable, "Indigo Eyes" which just gives me chills when I listen to it. The lyrcs and that incredible voice just gets under your skin and every time I see someone with beautiful blue eyes I start humming Indigo Eyes, then have to get the CD out to hear it. Remarkable CD even if it is not Bauhaus, Peter stands alone and does it very well. The other songs are good cuts from his solo recordings and Beggars Banquet put together a great selection to give you an overall vision of who Peter Murphy is. A great addition to anyone's music collection who appreciates this style of music. He has one of the most distinctive voices in music.

She was going on a Bauhaus kick and ran out of CDs to get so we started getting members cd's. This one is really good as it has his best music from 1985 to 1995. It includes Cut You Up which I personally think is one of his best songs. It was also a very high rated song on the charts. All in all this is a very solid Cd and you would be remiss as to pass it up.

This is an excellent disc for the casual Peter Murphy fan. It is a bang for the buck CD from an often overlooked eclectic artist. There are some true masterpieces here mixed in with a few clams in the middle of the disc. Tracks 1-3 and 9-16 are all excellent. "Cuts you up" may be the only true "hit" on the disc but there is some really remarkable material that rock fans of all genres can appreciate. One need not be familiar with his work in his previous band Bauhaus to enjoy this music as the music on this best of is quite varied. Very little of this disc would be classified as Goth.

This is a very good compilation album but so much was left out! So much more could have been added.

Durch Zufall entdeckt und absolut begeistert. Murphy hat sich zu seinen Vorteil weiterentwickelt, gut das er die Bauhauszeit hinter sich gelassen hat, so kann er seine besonders tiefe und klare Stimmlage voll ausschöpfen, und überzeugt durch eindringlich melodische Songs der Spitzenklasse. Erinnert mich ein wenig an Nick Cave. Toll !
