Rudyard Kipling's story of how the elephant got its trunk has always delighted children with its playful use of language and sense of high adventure. Never has there been a more satisfying rendering of Kipling's most beloved "Just So" story, which explains what the world was like "in the beginning of years when the world was new and all…". I love it, my kids love it, it's awesome!!!
love Love LOVE it! My two boys bunk together and use it as a nightlight! We use the green setting because it's a little less bright so it's easy to fall asleep to. During the day, we like to turn it to the setting that flashes all of the lights, turn off the bedroom light, plug my iPhone into it for music, and have a dance party. ' My kids and the kids that come over love to look at the colors, and we'll all lay on the floor and just watch sometimes. Sometimes we get the bubble blower going with it on too, and that's a lot of fun! The second night we used it, the gears inside started to squeak a bit which was a little annoying, but we just kept using it anyway because my kids sleep with a fan on and the squeak was mostly drowned out, but the squeak has since gone away. It doesn't squeak at all anymore. There is a gentle whir kind of sound when it's on just because that's the motor at work but it's not annoying at all. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has kids, especially younger ones! But it's awesome for adults too! Great to have on as background lighting for having a couple of friends over for cocktails and music, or just to relax to... I like putting it in the bathroom, putting on a mud mask, taking a bath, and listening to soothing music. Great stress reliever! VERY happy that I bought this. '

I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed Kipling. I have heard it read by other actors but somewhat lacked the magic of childhood memories. I first heard this version by Jack Nicholson on You Tube and along with the haunting music by Bobby McFerrin. It was then removed for copyright reasons. I wanted a copy, so I bought one and I was further blown away by the graphics and animation. Young children everywhere would do well to experience this wonderful story and use their 'insatiable curiosity' to extend their vocabulary at an early age.

My PK-1 students loved it!
I used this video as a sub lesson when I had to be out of school after surgery for a week. I'm a music teacher and they were enchanted with the story itself, loved the illustrations, could understand Nicholson's narration, and McFerrin's music made it seem more magical for them. When I returned, they wanted to know if it was true that the elephant got his trunk this way. They particularly liked the elephant child being spanked and spanking!

This is amazing. Buy it now. Then listen before bed.
This is maybe the best audio book ever. Jack Nicholson reading Just-So Stories to me and Bobby McFerron doing the a-cappella work in the background? Are you kidding me? Go. Buy this now. DOn't think, just buy it. Seriously. I looked for this dang thing for YEARS before I could find it. Had it as a kid and wore it out.

a Mandy's fave
The story by Rudyard Kipling as told by Jack Nicholson w/ Bobby McFerrin making the backround music and sounds was new when my youngest child was a little girl. She was enchanted by the story and enjoyed listening to it often, which I'm sure assisted her love of reading as well as music. Very entertaing and cute. Children young and old will enjoy this!

Loved it years ago and again now too.
I have this on VHS still from when my sons were young and bought the DVD so I can watch it with the grandchildren. Jack Nicholson's reading and Bobby McFerrin's musical sounds and singing are still enough to make me break into a silly grin just thinking of it! The grandkids love it too!

Best narration of this story. Ever!
If you didn't know it was Jack, you might never guess it. Of all the Rabbit Ears productions, this absolutely the best! The narration is superb! This story comes to life with Bobby McFerrins sound effects. Fun, fun, fun for children and adults both.

Loved It
This Rudyard Kipling book used to be a favorite with our now two adult children, and now for our foster children (do not have any grand children yet) The CD arrived yesterday, and the story can only be told by Jack Nicholson. I just loved all the words in the story, the great green and greasy Limpopo River all set about with fever trees, and so forth A great read and video, which I had not been able to get a copy until now.
