Good quality and much safer than a heat lamp
I have used several of these brooder plates for chicks we have hatched at home and I find them convenient and hassle free. No worries about the potential hazards of a heat lamp and they give reliable warmth without overheating your chicks, and are cheap to run as a bonus. This heat pad has adjustable legs which are really easy to use. Simple spring clips on the underside let you insert the legs onto the plate itself and then you can easily move then up or down according to the height of your chicks. I find they work best if you raise one end higher than the other, so the chicks can self-regulate to a degree, going to the lower end to get more warmth or moving to the higher side if they are warm enough. The plate should be lower than the image in the listing. Chicks need to be able to touch it at the lowest end otherwise they will be reaching upwards to get warm enough all the time. It will not burn the chicks. It has a light to indicate that the plate is on so you know it's working correctly. No adjustment to the temperature is needed as with a lamp because the chicks can choose how much time they want to spend under the plate. This size would keep a dozen average size chicks comfortable for several weeks. We hatch guineafowl which are smaller than many chickens so they fit easily until they are ready to come off heat.As the chicks get older they seem to like jumping on the top of heat plates so it's a good idea to look for a plastic cover. I believe this model would be compatible with the cone shape covers which stop them roosting on the plate (and leaving droppings all over it!).Overall, a well made and robust bit of kit that takes the guesswork out of keeping chicks warm and comfortable.

Perfect for chicks
I like how simple it is to use, and you can adjust the height in case you need it higher up, I suppose in case the chicks sleep higher up than the ground, this can still sit on the ground with their bed underneath it.It can never get too hot so no worries there, it does need to be right above them almost like their mother would be if she was keeping them warm but that is probably what makes her fee safer anyway. It’s simple to use lust plug in and adjust it to the height you want. The plastic is the right type of plastic- very strong and sturdy, keeps the heat in and can’t be knocked over.It is quite small at only 25 x 30cm so may need two if you have a lot of chicks but generally the right size for most ‘at home’ chick breeders!

Perfect for keeping Chicks warm
Ordered this heat lamp for which my chicken eggs which are due to hatch any day soon. I have used heat plates before however this one is a lot larger than the one i have already measuring a good size at 10" x 12". This particular heat plate is also adjustable with a minimum height setting of 2.56" and maximum height setting of 7.09" and is very easy to adjust by twisting the four legs. Overall very happy with this and would recommend.

Fits a good batch of chicks, easy to use
Plutohiker Chick Brooder Heating PlateBefore this heating plate, I used a heat bulb for my chicks. So, from super basic to slightly technological gadgets like this, my chicks look comfortable staying under the plate. It is straightforward to set up but can be time-consuming when adjusting the height when the chicks start growing, unlike similar items in the market. It fits a good batch of poultry, like less than a dozen, but can be more. Overall, the quality is good as it is easy to use and clean. Recommendable.

An effective brooder heating plate for baby chicks and ducklings
I got this Plutohiker chick brooder heating plate after doing some research online and I have to say I am very pleased with it. It is a great alternative to heat lamps, which can be dangerous and expensive to run. It is also more natural and comfortable for the baby birds, as it simulates the warmth of a mother hen. It comes with four legs that can be attached or removed to change the height of the plate. The height can be customized according to the size and number of chicks or ducklings. The plate can accommodate up to 40 chicks or 20 ducklings at a time. It only consumes 30W of power, which is much lower than heat lamps. It also has a built-in thermostat that regulates the temperature of the plate. The plate will not overheat or burn the baby birds, as it only gets warm enough to keep them cosy.It is made of high-quality plastic that is resistant to scratches and stains. It also has a waterproof coating that prevents moisture from seeping into the plate. The plate can be wiped clean with a damp cloth or sprayed with a hose.Overall, I am very happy with this brooder heating plate and I would recommend it to anyone who raises baby chicks or ducklings.
