It’s bright enough to see when in A dark area , but doesn’t stay illuminated very long.

Q: How do I set to 12hr setting?

Go through till am shows and it will return to a 12 hour instead of the 24 hour setting. You just have to go through to make sure it’s not still on 24 hour

Q: How can you tell if the alarm is off or on?

In normal mode press bottom left button twice enter into alarm mode,It's the alarm mode when the above screen display AL.The alarm on when the bottom screen show ALM,The alarm off when the bottom screen display nothing.
