I Love this gadget to store my partially used avocados! The avocado still browns a bit but it stays a lot fresher than without the avocado saver. It probably is unnecessary but it functions well and it can be used for other leftovers, fruits or vegetables.

I found this item at a resale store when looking for my daughter’s hard plastic one and immediately fell in love with this! I’ve used it many, many times for years; it still looks like brand new. Dishwasher safe. No onion smell in the container or refrigerator! Onions last so much longer and fresher! Every friend or family member who saw it (even my daughter who had the hard plastic one) wanted one. When I found the Joie Onion Saver on Amazon, I bought several to give to others!!!

I have gifted multiple Joie Food Saver Stretch Pods to 7 other people! They keep my fruit and veggies fresh longer. I didn't give this item a 5, because the stretchy, silicon piece is rather fragile and will tear. Just wash carefully. (I think my husband washed the one that tore!) Still, I will order again and again.

It did not work. I kept the seed in and squeezed fresh lemon juice on the avocado. I was able to store it in the pod. It stretched to accommodate the size of avocado with seed. It's easy to open & close just line up and slide closed. The problem is that even after all this prep work and overnight in cold refrigerator it still turned brown. I can just put plastic wrap and lemon juice and it remains fresh and green! So "No" I do not recommend this product for avocados.

I eat 1/2 avocado a day, and it's about the only thing I use plastic wrap for in day-to-day stuff so I was looking for a way to stop using the plastic. I got this after reading reviews from a bunch of containers. You have take the pit out of the half being kept - but that's OK. This thing works! It's a bit fidgety opening & closing correctly, but nothing that makes it hard to use, I just line it up. I don't always eat the other half the next day. I think the longest I've gone so far is 3 days and the avocado was nicely preserved, it looked like it had only been in there a day. And if you eat them as much as I do, you'll know every avocado is different and how fast it will deteriorate depends on that mighty scale of ripeness it silently goes through. I've used this container for several avocados now and have no complaints. I don't know if the stretchy top can hold up to a dishwasher so I only put the base in and I handwash the top if I need. Heck that's always just going against avocado skin so I admit I haven't always washed the top, I just reuse it the next day. The other plus, because this requires taking the pit out and sits flat, I can actually chuck it anywhere in my fridge now instead of balancing a rounded half avocado on top of something.

Keeps a cut tomato fresh for 1-2 days. Better than using a baggie or plastic wrap

I really like this avocado saver. It does a good job of protecting the avocado allowing storage of the cut avocado for a few days. It is easy to use and easy to clean.

We eat a lot of avocados, and sometimes we have a half left over that needs to be stored in the fridge for a day or two. We used to put these in Pyrex or Rubbermaid storage containers, and the cut surfaces would turn brown almost immediately. The Joie pod doesn’t solve this problem, but it slows it down quite a bit. After two days, I only have to give a minor scrape to the browned surfaces to get to fresh green avocado. I haven’t tried for more than two days.Another advantage over a hard container is that it takes less space in the veggie drawer since it conforms somewhat to the dome shape of the cut avocado.The only negative is that it’s a little finicky about opening and closing. It’s a slide and lock mechanism, and I wish the tabs that slide together to lock were a little bigger so they’d be easier to align. But this issue doesn’t deter me from giving it 5 stars enthusiastically.

Ótimo produto, bem acabado, resistente, prático, ocupando pouco espaço, porém se a metade do tomate for grande, fica um pouco difícil abrir, precisando de bastante força.
