Gien faience has been appreciated for its distinctive personality: the richness of its colours and the fineness and variety of its shapes. Partly handmade according to the traditions of ancestral craftsmanship and with each piece being unique, Gien faience is considered to be a high-end product. It bears distinctive characteristics such as different nuances in its colours, minute differences in its designs and its shapes, which all contribute to its charm. This classic marine-inspired collection was first released in 1923. Since then it has been reissued three times: in 1938, 1961 and most recently in 2011. Each of the crustaceans is framed against a scalloped border.
