This is one of those devices that you might not know that exists and it fixes a problem you didn't know had any options let alone a solution for. For certain combinations of video hardware and displays, you can wind up with issues that range from minor annoyance to major frustration. And this little device fixes them all. In this case I have a very nice monitor that it's one big drawback is that it can take an oddly long time to switch from one video source to another. Using these on each input of the HDMI switch I use has eliminated that from happening. This was a minor annoyance, but using these on the inputs has eliminated it completely.Then for the major frustrations it can solve, I was experiencing two specific problems. The first problem was that I have a machine with a large 4K monitor on it. But I have configured Windows to be in 100% scaling instead of the default, in order to have the maximum amount of desktop space - the equivalent of a 4 monitor (2x2) configuration. When the monitor would get turned off (this machine is on all the time), Windows would reorganize my desktop. The effect was the same as if you unplugged the 4K monitor and plugged in a typical HD 1080 monitor where Windows would resize and move all the open application windows to the top left of the desktop. Using the 4K version of this same device completely eliminated this issue. Now I don't have to reset my desktop every time I sit down at this machine.The other problem that these have fixed for me was that I use video capture cards on various machines and will use the built in Windows Camera application to easily capture video with them. The problem is that Windows Camera has a quirk that it will stop recording when the monitor is turned off. Now that problem is eliminated also now that this virtual display emulator installed.The device comes in minimalist packaging which in this case also means it does not include any instructions. While I see others have left comments about this being a negative for them, I don't quite see it that way. I see it as a testimonial to how simple and easy this device is to use. And I also appreciate it for the fact that it minimizes waste materials.Thus overall, this is an excellent product in that it looks and works exactly as shown and described in the product information. It solves several unique problems with HDMI displays for certain use cases. The only drawback of this device is there are likely to be many people out that that don't realize there is a device like this and what it is doing to solve the problem that they are experiencing. Very highly recommended.
