Compact Living: How to Design Small Interior Space

I found the suggestions in this book invaluable. The author is a design engineer and sustainability consultant so a heavy 'green' thread runs through the book, but the fact that his family of five, with diverse interests, live happily and comfortably in a 1-bedroom maisonette is all you need to know to make this a must-read, whether you are choosing to down-size like me or are merely forced to live in cramped or crowded conditions. Okay, the photographic illustrations of his own home will appal minimalists and I think the Heath Robinson drawings are not entirely tongue-in-cheek. He wastes not a square centimetre of storage space, giving testament to his talent to 'think outside the box'. However these days those of us with an i-pod and Kindle won't need to store hundreds of books or LP records as does the author.I see this little book as a compact living design bible, to be referred to over and over again, and it occupies less than a centimetre on my over-the-sofa-bed shelf.

Great design philosophy but was looking for more in terms of practical tips . More about the design ethos and a bit light on new solutions.

Not brilliant. A small budget production but still feel it could have been better presented.

Really thought provoking and good when things are looking bleak. I feel much more positive about my future and that of my family now

Yes there is certainly a problem with cluttering and consuming, it thing that needs to be improved in our world. But book is not really motivational. WOuld be nice to see something more visual with photos and small-simple tips and ideas.

Very inspiring, real life example of a true small space living and the benefits that go with it. Thankful of the author to share with others his choice in lifestyle without too many, if any, sacrifices...very inspiring and informative.

Got to me promptly, & in great shape. More to come after I read it.

Excellant information. This book is deffinately worth adding to your collection of tiny or small house books. Format on kindle fire is great.
