Arrived Busted
Good content. Would have been nice if it wasn't busted on arrival. Not the best look for a birthday present.

Obsolete but a good read
As long as you realize what you are buying this is a very good book. The training information is mostly dated (including advice like don't drink water for at least a half hour after your workout so that the body has "time to cool down") but there are some nice gems for warmups and drills that I've worked into my classes. But I liked this book because it provided a great insight into the Judo mindset of a few decades ago. The authors are very honest and earnest in their desire to share their expertise and it makes for an engaging read of what could be a dry subject.Overall I'd compare this to reading a book about Football from the 1960s - a lot of the specific info is obsolete but there is still a lot to learn and even more to gain from seeing the perspectives of a prior generation. I wouldn't recommend this book for a beginner, but this is a great addition to the bookshelf of any senior Judoka or instructor.

Judo Training Methods
This product is excellent in discussing all of the various forms of Judo Training methods and the bio-physical applications of many of the exercises as demonstrated. As I am a Japanese Jujutsu-ka and an Okinawan Karateka, much of the information on Shiai is not particularly relevant to me, however, if I am ever afforded the opportunity, I know this book will help me along the way of practicing and studying the art of Judo and all of the relevant traditional and modern training techniques and activities to produce much stronger technique in training, Randori, and self-defense.

Honestly, impressive.
I'm Marine, do muay thai, boxing, some bjj and judo for a year, I was a personal trainer at L.A. Fitness at 18, I'd like to believe I know a thing or two about "Training". And let me tell you, this book was amazing.Leave it to the Japanese and their attention to detail, to write a very specific and detailed book full of great information.

Best book so far on judo
A classic training methodology that can be applied to any martial arts, specially kendo, the other side of the coin of budo with judo.
