I said it transmits on 2.4 I meant 5.8 ghz.

My camara just arrived and has a slight burnt smell to it, is that normal?

No, that is not normal. I use mine w/ a direct connection to either a 2S or 3S lipo and it does get very warm, but no smell. You should not plug it into anything more than that.
