Beautiful story and illustrations.
Added this book to my folktale collection. Beautiful illustrations and story about generosity. I've enjoyed making the cookies (ordered the copper cutter from the website listed), and it's a favorite story with my grandkids each year.

Great!
In this story, St. Nicholas is teaching us how to be generous. A book about a nice story with beautiful pictures. Great.

Great Story and Price Was Just a Penny for the Kindle Version
This is an enjoyable short children’s story that tells one version of the account of how the term Baker’s Dozen was started. The book is very graphics heavy with original artwork on about every other page on the Kindle version. While the pictures look okay with an e-Ink Kindle reader, they really “pop” and come to life on a Kindle Fire as they are in color. Children should enjoy this one and I’m certain parents / grandparents will like reading it, also as it is not too simplistic to read and it does tell a good story.I originally picked the Kindle version of this one up for all of one penny which adds one star to the review because it makes it a heck of a deal – if you’re looking for a good children’s storybook to read, I would recommend this one.

A great life lesson
The story is superbly illustrated, simply and clearly told and provides an easily remembered moral for even h e youngest child. You'll be glad you included it in your Christmas story collection. When I was first married, my husband and I resolved to be equal partners, to split chores exactly in half. We soon found that we were very dissatisfied, each feeling that he was contributing more than his share. So we changed our philosophy and each began shouldering more than half of the burden. The result is a long happy marriage. This solution holds true in all areas of life. Give more than you are given and happiness will result.

Beautiful illustrations
The Baker's Dozen is a story about how a baker in New York began to give 13 items when people asked for a dozen. He was a fair and honest baker, never cheating anyone, but never giving anyone more than they paid for. He is visited by St. Nicholas in disguise as and old woman and when he refuses to give her 13 cookies instead of the dozen ordered, she puts a curse on the baker. It takes him an entire year to learn that giving is better than receiving. This is a short book, but the illustrations are beautiful and I highly recommend it as a Christmas story for all families.

Beautiful Bargain Book Blessing
I'm a skeptic when it comes to $0.01 kindle books. I have bought some that were worth just that! However, The Bakers Dozen is a generous offering that ironically (for those reviewers who did not understand it) is about generosity. The illustrations are beautiful and richly detailed. The writing is well done. Reading level is 3rd grade or so, but the story is one that all ages will enjoy.I want a print copy to read aloud at our church's Advent program and then make Saint Nicholas cookies. I will find oneA Baker 's Dozen of thank yous and gratitude to you Aaron Shepard! Great new classic children's book

Magnificent Illustrations and Story! (Destined to become a Christmas classic if not already)
Best Aaron Shepard book I've acquired to date! The cover alone demonstrates the incredible detail of the artwork and has a superb story as well that is definitely worth the retelling. Tremendous!
