Comparison to the Logitech remote
I am a high school teacher and I use this remote so I can advance slides without being near the computer. I had a Logitech remote before this one, but I lost it and did not want to spend 40 bucks on it. This review will be a comparison between the two.1. This remote looks exactly like the Logitech remote, but feels cheaper. The tolerances are not quite as nice and everything does not quite fit as well as on the Logitech. (like the usb).2. The Range on this unit is not nearly as good as the Logitech. The Logitech worked anywhere in every classroom I have ever taught in. This remote has issues if its more then 10 ft away. This is the primary reason for 3 stars.Overall if you plan to be more then 10 ft away from your computer I would not recommend this remote.

Left, right, red light.
This mighty little clicker meets all of my needs. It arrived in a black box and inside that was a soft case shaped like a bean, and inside that was the Red Star Tec remote. After putting in 2 batteries (not included), I was able to plug and play. There is no set up needed. Plug in the USB (conveniently stores in the remote) and slide to "on" position, it's working. As a university lecturer, I can walk around the entire room and still easily use the remote without even aiming it at the kiosk. It has a red laser light to use as a pointer (or to wake up errant undergrads). The clicker also has a blackout button to blank the screen. And, of course, left and right buttons. This bean shaped clicker is lightweight and fits well in my hand.Done with your slideshow? Turn to off position, take USB from computer and slide into place, zip into the case.Pros: Where ya been all my life (or past decade of teaching)? I can't believe I waited so long to purchase. Compared to the remotes I've used it's light and can be used at a good distance from the computer. I got it using Prime, so it arrived in just 2 days.Cons: Must add batteries (no idea yet how often I'll need to change. Trying to be good about turning it to "off" position). The soft case should be a hard case to protect the clicker inside a large tote. However. I'm just keeping it inside the case AND in the black box packaging which is working well so far.

Buy this remote
I purchased this remote after reviewing the Logitech R400. I was surprised that this cost so much less than the Logitech and it had good reviews so I took a chance and bought it. After I made the order, I received a nice email from the company stating that they received my order with their order number and if there’s any problems at all to please contact them. The remote arrived one promised and in great condition. It’s just as they say on the website, you plug it into the computer and it just works no set up needed. I was able to advance my PowerPoint slides on my laptop without any problems at all. The laser also worked as described. I was very happy with the service provided and I will definitely purchase other items from them again as needed.

It works well...
I've had to get four Powerpoint remotes in the last nine months. The first one lasted a while, and then died. The second lasted about a month, and died. The third didn't work right out of the box. I don't want to jinx it, but this one seems good. I have been using it for about a month and so far, so good. It's a good shape for my hand, the arrows to advance slides and to go back make sense (the arrows on other versions I've had seemed backwards). The only complaint I have is that the laser pointer doesn't work on my Smartboard, but that's not an issue with the remote as much as it is an issue with the Smartboard. So far, I like it!

A Cheap Knock-off
I purchased this because it looked like it would be a cheaper alternative to the Logitech Wireless Presenter R400, Presentation Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer. It definitely is cheaper, but it also shoddily made. The USB connector came packaged separately and does not fit well into the holder that it was designed to be in. The buttons on the clicker are not flush and rub against each other. The laser pointer buttons only work when you press them very hard. I am returning this pointer and getting the Logitech Wireless Presenter R400, Presentation Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer (whose price has now dropped)

RED STAR TEC Wireless PowerPoint Slide Advance Remote and Keynote Laser Pointer
'Performed flawlessly as a laser pointer and slide advance remote control, exactly as promoted in the AMAZON.COM online description. Also, the owner-inventor of RED STAR TEC, Christian, was very helpful to me in his "outreach" concerning a question that I had about the evice. The .pdf instruction manual provided, separately, by e-mail attachment, was far more helpful (and well written, too) than is usually provided by most vendors of similar devices. I plan on sending Christian some more detailed feedback about the event where his device was first used....but it was really one of the best purchases of this type that I have made in recent years (I may, in fact, purchase another unit of the same product to have 'in reserve'. AMAOZON.COM delivery service was 'first rate', as usual ! KUDOS to all.

A perfect slide clicker
All I can say is it does its job flawlessly. The USB plug-in loaded all by itself in both my Windows 10 computer and a ChromeBook dumb terminal. The device fits comfortably in the hand and the buttons operate smoothly. I've used it now for several days and the batteries are still good.As the instructions suggested, the up/down buttons work on both systems, but the Open/close feature works only on Windows. The laser pointer is nice, but of course does not appear on a modern flat screen digital display. It works fine on regular projector screens. The only improvement I could suggest is to make the on/off slider button a little easier to move - - maybe deeper ridges. If it could power itself down after an hour or so of no button pushes that might be nice, as long as it didn't otherwise reduce battery life or cost. All in all, a perfect product at a good price.

It offers me so much more freedom and clients love it. When I do use a projector and ...
This has transformed my meetings. I can now work more professionally with clients when I arrive at meetings. I no longer need a projector and screen I can simply place my laptop in front of the client. Typically there will be three people. I can then sit in a position between client and laptop with freedom to present. It offers me so much more freedom and clients love it. When I do use a projector and screen it allows me to walk about. I train about 10 days a month to roughly 40 deligates at a time and this device offers me freedom of movement as I walk through the classroom. Finally. I also present to about 100 people once a month I. A building where the pc is a long way from where I stand so I have to rely on a 3rd party transitioning my slides.not any more. I was amazed to find I could use this device even over a considerable distance. Best purchase in a while.

I like this - a lot.
It works, straight out of the box. I bought it for a presentation which will likely be a one-off, so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't last too long, but that said, I expect everything to last for decades and this gizmo seems to be well-made. With little technological interest, I was delighted that turning the On switch does just that, the USB, once unstored from its nest, simply connects without any need for introductions to the host machine - it is (almost) idiot-proof. The case is rather neat.

A product ideal for serious lecturers
First of all there is a personal touch with this product from the makers and suppliers. They wrote to me explaining how their product was made and the thinking behind it, and always eager for any feedback to improve their product. The Red Star is ideal for serious lecturers who want to present their lectures in a professional manner. The Red star is small enough to fit in your palm, easy to navigate and can quickly change slides on a click of the arrow. The Red star gives you freedom to move around the room as you interact with your audience (students in my case), and helps to increase intellectual intimacy. The infra green light is useful for pointing at key messages without standing in front of the presentation. Finally, the cost is well worth it and value for money.Ideal for me as a busy lecturer and easy to carry around as it is light in weight.

I am a novice
Ordered this purely on the basis of previous reviews. I needed something to help me with my first power point presentation to an audience of 75+ at a medical conference, my input being from a patients perspective. I had two days to practise at home with my PC. Linking the presenter to my PC was so straightforward. Put two AAA batteries in the presenter, plug the wireless usb receiver into my PC, turn the PC & presenter on and bingo we are ready to experiment. I received an e mail direct from the suppliers with a further link with instructions for the presenter and set up procedures. The presenter is light & light. The usb is stored in a recess in the presenter and everything then fits in a black zipped carrying case & I managed to include two spare batteries. I know some presenters have an inbuilt timer but this did not encourage me to pay the higher price. I am pleased I didn't.

Worked perfectly
Last year I gave a couple of presentations at a conference and had purchased another clicker for that occasion (I think it was the Beboncool listed on amazon if you search presentation clickers - it was that style if not make), and it worked ok, but i did find the next buttons a little slow to react, and sometimes had to press them twice to progress my slides, which isn't ideal as it meant I had to keep checking the screen behind me to make sure it had progressed as i expected.I then gave another conference talk a week ago, and thought I would splash out on a new clicker to see if it would work better, and went for the Red Star Tec one - and it was a huge improvement! I originally thought maybe the poor performance was a line of sight or wirless issue, so thought maybe all would suffer the same problems, but this worked much better - smoothely scrolling pages on the presentation - in the end i didnt need to check on the slides at all and was able to present without giving a second thought to what was on display behind me.I was using the device with a 2018 macbook pro (with a usb-c adapter from elsewhere - obviously this is a normal usb device)
