Blackburn Unisex's Mountain Mirror Blank, Multicoloured, One Size

I have tried other mirrors which needed to be glued to stop them from rotating! This one holds its position once you have set it and the Velcro tape is OK if you do it up tight enough.The size is only just big enough which makes setting it to view on the vertical plane a bit tricky and could be a bit bigger, the horizontal plane is wide enough. As the mirrors are flat you can see the vehicle behind much more clearly.I used 150mm handlebar grips which helps to accommodate the space these take up on the grip. The mirror can be carried in your pocket and then attached to the handlebar once on the road.It also makes the bike 7" wider on the offside which seems to make motorists give me a bit more overtaking room.

It is not the most robust of mirrors IMO though the price makes it perfect for me. Really great when on country roads, when I see a car approaching, a quick glance in the mirror alerts me... really recommend even for local cycling to the shops.

Design of mirror angle adjustment is excellent and it stays where you lock it. I found the velcro attachment strap would loosen off while riding on rough tracks or cobbled streets. I now have it on my Brompton with M-handlebars, fitted with Ergon GP1-L grips, which I also recommend, but now attached by two stainless steel screws through the grip and self-tapped into the aluminium handlebar tube. To protect the mirror in storage or transport, you can easily detach it by unscrewing the ball-joint adjuster clamp.

This is expensive but, providing you fit it correctly, with tightened velcro and tightened mid-point, it does seem to do the job without loosening and without forever needing adjustments. There is a slight distortion in the mirror but it all compares well with other solution items. Some warn the mirror can drop out - I shall watch this. The only definite negative is the price... and more awkward jostling of the bike in and out of doorways/tight spaces because of the extended handlebar width.

This mirror takes seconds to fit and to remove, is easily adjustable and vibration free. The quality of the mirror cannot be faulted and it is excellent value for money. For some people it may stick out too far and be a problem when manoevering through tight spaces such as doorways or between queuing traffic but I just remove mine when necessary - better to have excellent rear vision than to see nothing more than your arm in the mirror!

I have been using this design of mirror for years but my old one was dropped and smashed. I’m delighted that this one, the latest version, is not actually glass and so won’t break. I use it on ordinary handlebar grips and with a bit of care, it will fit and stay on even though it is designed for straight grips. I see traffic well. It stays firm and doesn’t shake much. I have tried other mirrors but this one works best for me.

I have a mountain bike, I use it both on and off road all year round, I had a fixed mirror (right angled) on my bars for about 18 mths until it broke on a fence so I have been looking for a replacement ever since, the other mirror had taken a number of knocks over that time so I would have been happy to buy another, however, I spotted this one and thought I'd try it out, as its easy to remove for off road, I had to removed/adjust the other one with an allen key every now and again, This one fits in seconds with the velcro stap and is actually very secure, you can adjust it by hand by turning a robust plastic dial, its quick to remove for off road use and as its strait the design means its easy to store, it also has a reflector on the reverse side of the mirror, so far a very good item.
