If you leave your vehicle idle for long periods, you may have problems retaining enough charge in the battery to enable you to turn the engine over. This trickle charger contain a small solar panel that will put a very small charge into your car battery - just sufficient to cover the ongoing power lost through an alarm system for example. This prevents the battery going flat and helps to keep it in good condition during periods when the vehicle is not used. These devices are kept inside the car and, for best results, the panel should be flat up against the windscreen where it can get as much light as possible. The simplest way to connect to your battery is through the cigarette lighter socket. Be sure that this is 'live' when your ignition is switched off (you can check this by testing if you can charge a mobile phone). If not, you'll need to attach the panel directly to the car battery terminals using the crocodile clips provided. This cable will enable you to connect up to 3 panels to your battery.

"Fantastico"
What a brilliant product. My expectation wasn't high with a solar powered charger, however I stand to eat my words. I was recommended by a member of an owners club I belong to, as I had a flat car battery at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic around the end of March, through lack of use. I jump-started the car and let it run for 15 mins, I ordered this charger stuck it in the windscreen and left it. 5 - 6 weeks later (yesterday) got in the car and it started without hesitation.

Good cable for trickle charging battery and saving car's memory
Good cable that works well with my AA Smart Battery Charger & Maintainer. Saves opening the bonnet, and I can connect it directly to the SAE cable on my bike battery to save car's memory settings when changing car battery. Pins 4 and 5 (chassis and signal grounds) are connected on this cable if that matters to you, but the mating sockets are directly connected on our cars too (Mazda 6 and Smart Fortwo) so it won't interfere with anything. Please note that the SAE plug pin orientation on this cable is positive exposed and negative covered, so a 99p SAE gender converter was needed from ebay to connect to my charger (I believe normal chargers use opposite orientation to solar chargers on their SAE connectors)

Works well, check the size in listing
Keeps the starter battery on a little-used 2006 Prius topped up - previously the alarm used to drain the charge so it'd occasionally not start. As the cigar lighter socket isn't live with the ignition off the panel is kept in the boot & I've added a different lead with ring terminals connecting to the battery. We don't disconnect panel whilst starting/driving the car & so far so good.

Works great for solar panel charging
I use this with a solar panel to keep the battery topped up, it's very convenient to just have it plugged in below the dash for easy removal and replacement. It has all of the pins which seems a bit unnecessary, be careful fitting though as it might not want to plug in first time every time, I forced it in once and bent a pin which of course would be the power pin and the battery went flat. No fault of the product, just me.

it is too big for a mini window. it ...
it is too big for a mini window. it blocks my view. i now lie it flat in window when using it. so it's a bit of a pain having to move it out of window & back when using it. not as simple as i'd expected - attach to window, plug in & leave NO

wrong describtion, disappointing
The charging LED doesn't exist. you don't know wheter is working or not. So I was sent a wrong item or decribtion was wrong. I sent it back. Wasn't even returned for the postage... If you connect it to a radio socket - it might keep your display on all the time. Because of that, my car battery was draining even faster and i was completetely flat after 4 days!. I bought another one that connects to the OBD socket (AA version with a blue led). Now it lasts longer. Which proves my theory was right.
