Easy to read, comprehensive guide to understanding the period
Great older textbook - brilliant price and good condition - very interesting read, can easily make very comprehensive notes from this book yet the understanding is definitely there.Using this as part of my sources for my A-Level Historical Enquiry on the Tudors and Religion - however I would recommend this book to any student wishing to gain knowledge about this time period.Brilliant book in general!

World of Books misleading
Excellent book but sold as 'very good condition' by World of Books but actually highlighted all over. Great book so a real shame.

text book that misses
This is an A level book that just fails to get there. It has the basics I suppose but both my son and myself were not satisfied with it.

History: - Boring and Hard. NOT THIS BOOK!!
England 1485-1603. A complicated era to study but without doubt this book will help. I study AS level Tudor history and this book has been my Guru, or to use stronger terminology in some cases my savior. It has it all Religion, Law, Politics...everything you need to know to pass the current syllabus. I applaud the authors for their hours of hard work to give us a book that is direct, to the point and explains everything so well. So you don't get to bored while straining over those hard Essay's entitled 'Henry VIII...Full History please' it includes an interesting array of pictures and diagrams which again make it easier to understand. My critism's would be that perhaps this book can be to vague in places and that there is no colour...once you open the front cover it's all so monochrome it hurts your eyes. But on balance a good book, which will no doubt be of help to anyone studying this period. Especially if your focus is on Henry VII, Henry VIII, Cardinal Wolsey and all the factors surrounding them. A truly great book.

Too brief for my liking.
I've just finished my A levels, one of which was in Tudor History. On the run up to my exams I began to panic (as everyone probably does!) so i bought almost every book I could find on that era. This was one of the many books I purchased, mainly on the advice of the other reviews. But i was not as pleased. For me my school placed great emphasis on wider knowledge and I was revising for a very detailed period, I didn't want to just be another student using the same old examples and quotes. Although the book does cover the period, for me it covered it too briefly, after all it does cover over 100 years! Luckily I had also bought a few 'access to history' books (Henry VIII and govt of England, Mid Tudor Crisis and Elizabeth) which really helped fill the gaps. I ended up gaining a high A grade for my full A level, mainly in my view due to the help of the 'access to history' books. This book is good but to gain the top grades I would recommend the 'access to history' series.
