Previously used the crook of crow bar to dig out small to medium size plants when wife needed them moving. The first few times she asked, took out a full size pick axe and full size mattock but found them to be over kill for the task in hand and were often left unused.Then came across this mini mattock & adze. Mattock for digging and adze for cutting roots. Good for the purpose mentioned above. However, I found this tool not so well balanced. Reckon designers had eye on female users in mind ? For me would prefer the handle to be 100mm longer and girth of a 4 lb club hammer; reckon I could swing it better if handle was longer and dig deeper also.

This is well designed and well made from high quality materials. The blades are sharp and robust, and the handle is comfortable and seems to have very good shock absorbtion properties.It's a small tool, and is highly portable so if that's what you need then look no further. I bought it to dig out some pipework buried in stoney ground on an industrial site and it did exactly what I required of it.As tools go these days it's a bit expensive, but the quality is certainly better than usual. However, if your requirements aren't particularly demanding then a cheaper product might serve you just as well.

This is a fantastic item. Brilliant quality. Sturdy and has helped immensely in my garden. Used mainly for breaking up hard earth for weeding chores…but also used to pull up heavy paving stones. Happy happy happy

Perfect tool for loosening hard compacted soil and light stone. I used it for digging a narrow trench and it was perfect. Lightweight and durable. Feels very secure and sturdy in the hand. Should last for years to come. Excellent value.

Amazing bit of kit. Used to help dig a small garden trench in tough ground. Very strong and sturdy. Looks and feels like it will last a long time.
