Good Price Good Quality
This is a Good Chanter the reed is not any good. You will want to invest into Gibson reeds they are much better. It is made from Good quality Wood. The finish is ok it had some runs though over spray. I am refinishing the chanter using a good quality tung oil. The mouth piece is made from plastic what you get in this price range. Simply put for the price you can not argue it is a good practice chanter. The shipper was fast will order from them again.

Good for the price
Since this was so cheap, I will give it leway, but in all honesty, it is out of tune. It is good for anyone learning how to play the pipes but you will need a new chanter later. This is made with sturdy Rosewood and a metal (aluminum?) which gives it a nice weight. Holes are a little small but the overall length is good. If you are trying to learn how to play the pipes are just want to mess around, I'd suggest this.

Back in high school I was in the band geek mafia so I'm no stranger to musical instruments. Having a bit of difficulty making this thing actually work. Probably needs a new reed. Will give it another go, and if I'm allowed to change my review or edit it, I'll do so if I can make it work. Firm believer in "you get what you pay for".

its a good starter
ok so i play the guitar and the banjo. ive always wanted to be a piper tho. so for starters i got this and well it works but you will need some instruction on how and ware to place your fingers. this is a good starter chanter. i know that the squeeking and the terrable sound is just me playing. dont blame the instrument blame the piper.

Not a bad little chanter.
I had a friend who played the bagpipes and sometimes played a chanter during breaks at work so I got interested in trying one out. It seems to be a fairly good quality instrument. The wood looks nice and the joints use thread rather than cork. Not surprisingly, it has a plastic reed as a wood reed cost more than the chanter. My brother doesn't like the sound but I think it sounds much like other chanters. The only thing I didn't like was that the ornate metal "bell" was unnecessarily heavy for me. Overall, I like it.

Good stuff
Not bad. For the price it can't be beat. I'd get some better reeds, otherwise it pretty well matched the tone of a Gibson chanter. Great for beginners who may or may not stick with piping.

Worth it
I got this chanter not expecting much. It has a good sound and decently manufactured. The reed that came with it was not so good, but getting a replacement is inexpensive. If you want to start somewhere with bagpipes, start here. It is quiet as it is a practice chanter.

Practice Chanter, Rosewood-Roosebeck
The item was not assembled properly. The reed was unraveled the ends were not waxed to hold the the reed in place as a result it was not usable. I was quite excited when it arrived and immediately put the practice chanter together after about 5 minutes of attempting to "play the chanter" I took it apart to find out why it wasn't functioning or playing notes - it was not properly assembled hence it could not be used. I will have to return the product and look for another one from a different seller.
