Lovely peat
Thank goodness there is still somewhere I can buy some peat, desperately needed in my garden. I will use it respectfully and only as needed.

Peat dressing helps acid-loving holly tree in chalky soil
The bale of peat seems a lot smaller than the ones I used to buy 30 years ago - so rather expensive, but I only needed a small amount to add around my large holly tree planted in alkaline chalky loam and clay. A recent fence post installed nearby with concrete has probably added to the problem for the acid-loving tree that's developed some yellow leaves since the post needed to be put in so close. I wouldn't normally buy peat, but it was for just this one job. My next door neighbour will be digging in the rest of the bag of peat on his side of the holly - which is near the boundary. Hopefully it will make the holly happier. It does seem much improved already.

On time,in one piece.
Use this to bolster the modern multi purpose compost, which I think is rubbish.Helps stop the shrinkage and crust forming on the top,if using compost alone.

Good Value.
This is not the first time that I have bought this product. For quite a few years I have used peat alternative, but frankly I have not found any alternative that compares. This peat is supplied completely dry and is very economical to use. Because of environment concerns, all of my local garden centres no longer stock peat based products. I am pleased that Amazon continue to stock and supply. The delivery was well within the estimated time.

Sustainably Sourced For The Win!
There was another peat product for sale that was *slightly* cheaper (around a pound less) but I chose this one because it is sustainably sourced. I added it to my acid loving plants growing in containers and it made a noticeable difference from the very beginning. The containers hold more water and everything is growing beautifully. Very pleased and would buy again, especially since it has dropped in price!

Great for carnivores
I have a bog garden in a pot with carnivorous plants and this was great value, it filled it all up and some left over for the garden. It absorbs a lot of water too. However I will not buy any more as its not environmentaly friendly and now I have filled up for this specific thing I will not be adding any more
