Not nearly as good as Batman Eternal
Not nearly as good as Batman Eternal. Cringeworthy ideas, dialogue is frankly stupid. No surprises in the plot. The new antagonist is the worst idea in last decades batverse. The idiotic plan behind it all is just icing on the bad cake. I really don't recommed for other than ok art.

More Batman without Batman
I have a relatively large collection of the Bat Man books and this volume gives me a slight problem in that I need to decide where it belongs on my shelves given that Batman hardly appears. Actually, he appears in flashback but the main storyline features the supporting characters Robin, Red Robin, Orphan, Spoiler, Grayson, Azrael and Red Hood to name but a few. That list gives you a clue that this is a sprawling, meandering "epic" which wraps up the story from volume 1. My first problem with the book is that there is quite a lot of talking heads which is actually quite wearing to trudge through as it isn't interesting enough. Despite this text heavy approach, we still have gaps where I was left wondering if I had missed an issue - possibly the missing events happened in one of the other Bat books. The art is generally uneven and certainly not good enough to justify the entrance price by itself. Overall though the cast of characters is just too large to make this a comfortable read and the pages featuring montage scenes of the various heroes fighting across multiple locations just serve to emphasise this point. Looking at the other reviews, I guess that I am in a minority but my feeling is that if the title of the book includes "Batman" then the caped crusader should be the main focus.
