Man, it's been hard to find an ear thermometer that works on cats. But this one seems to be accurate. Plus you can turn off the dang beep and not have it go off in their ear. Of course there's only one way to test it against a known-to-be-accurate reading. IYKYK. Haven't gone there, yet. Ahem. Waiting for one of them to volunteer…But hey, thanks for making one that seems to do the job. 98% of above-the-neck thermometers are for kids. Then most of the rest are for dogs only. Cats sure don't get much respect despite more than a third of US households owning one. It was either this, or a $500 option from a veterinary supply company. No wonder our vet gouges on the testing, ouch.

I should have returned this! The first time I tried to use it, it said my dogs temp was 97. Then I tired it in myself and it read 104! I bought this in desperation because that week my dog came down with a fever and had to be admitted. So I wanted a thermometer so I could better know when my pup was in distress. Unfortunately this just adds to the confusion during a time of crisis. Fortunately if my little dog is overheated his ear flaps turn red inside- so at least I have that to help me. Should have listened to the other reviews. Also the next time I tried to use it - the battery was dead. 😒probably not worth replacing the battery. Poor purchase on my end.

I was having a really difficult time getting a temp on my kitty without a lot of indignities… this longer sensor works really well in cats, so was happy to find it as there’s not many thermometers that can do this.

The first time I did it, he was 105 degrees .. I was literally packing all my stuff, to run out the door to the emergency vet.. But then I tried it again and it was 98.5. Then again it was 105.. And I tried right now and it was 98.5 you get the gist of it.. and now I’m more confused than ever.. Is he sick? Is he well? This wasn’t cheap enough for it to be that inaccurate..

Good for a quick temp but I wouldn’t rely 100% on it. One ear came up very low and that my cat would’ve been comatose but he’s alive and well. Perhaps user error but nonetheless odd.

Having a thermometer around where I can easy test my dog's temperature is a huge relief on my anxiety.It took quite a few times and tests to get a repeatable "good" reading off this thermometer. That's likely more due to user error than anything so it's not an issue with the reader. I'm new to testing dog's temperatures so I don't always place this correctly. That said, I would strongly recomment you do some googling and make sure that you're testing out this thermometer prior to using it to get a reading on a possibly sick dog. You want to make sure you're placing this correctly. There is a bit of a finesse to it, but I think once you know how to position this correctly on YOUR dog it should be easier moving forward. It took me several attempts before I could get a good consistent reading on my dog but I think I'm pretty confident now that when I do need to really use it, I'll be using it accurately.Even with all my at first unsuccessful attempts, my pup didn't seem bothered by the constaint intrusions. Very perferable to the "old school" method of temperature taking.This comes in a pretty blue design with a "sleek" looking LCD screen. I like that there's a hygiene cap included and qtips for cleaning the reader.

I cannot say enough good things about this thermometer. I got it because we got a puppy and I needed to check her temperature and I just could not bring myself to do it the way the vets do it 😳. I fell in love the minute I took it out of the packaging when I felt how well designed it was, it didn't feel cheap, it had a cover on the tip to keep it sterile, out of the box ready to use and it came with q-tips for my pups. the fact that it reads the temperature in one second??? Is so incredibly helpful especially when you're wrestling with a pet or a child to take their temperature. we ended up sterilizing it and had to use it for one of the kids when they came down with this winter crud. then I fell in love with it even more!!! it actually works on humans too this thing is a godsend. It's battery operated I do wish it was rechargeable but with all the other features that's not a big enough con to me. we haven't had to replace the batteries yet we've had it for a while now and trust me it's had lots of use. I highly recommend this thermometer both for your pets or for your children
