Works like a charm! Exactly what I needed.
I had Chat GPT do a deep-dive search for me to find the perfect laser printer for my home office. This Brother printer came up as the clear winner, and I can see why. It’s quiet, efficient, produces great copies, and was easy to set up. Toner cartridges are a little expensive, but the extended version produces more copies. If you’re looking for a good, mid-range, dependable home office printer, seriously consider the Brother MFC-L3780CDW.

This printer doesn't suck!
I thought it was the holy grail -- to find a printer that doesn't suck. I found it here! Not only does it NOT suck, I actually hug it every time it prints. 1. Easy as hell to set up, you don't even have to use the mobile app (but I did set that up also and it was a few extra steps but also easy). Airprint works instantly. 2. So fast, so quiet. I had a Canon MX something that would take about a few minutes to think about printing, and then another minute to print, and the page would usually jam in the middle of the job. The Brother has NO such issues. The Canon could take two days to print a 60 page document (because I had to keep taking breaks from unjamming it and resetting the job so as not to throw it through the window). Those days are gone forever! 3. Color is not going to be like a photo printer -- it does not take photo printer, please note -- but color is fast and bright and perfectly acceptable for a document (vs. a photo). 4. My setup is a home office, my printing needs are relatively light, so I agonized over the cost vs. use but when a printer JUST WORKS these days, it's so miraculous that I decided the cost was worth it and used the Affirm payment plan to make the finances work. 5. I did not have to sign up for the ink program, my uses are so light it would be an unjustifiable expense. I spent about a month researching and comparing and reading all of you good people's reviews -- some of which are super funny -- of this printer and others, and finally the day came where I couldn't stand even the thought of trying to print on the Canon so I pulled the trigger. I know I'm not alone in the "I hate my printer" category but I might now be one of a dozen people in the "I love my printer" category. It arrived in a speedy timeframe and it was packaged so well that if it had been a baby, it would have slept without waking from a single bump. Brother is my brand and this printer is 5 stars!

Cloud Brother Refresh program is greedy and buggy
Mechanically, the printer is fine, but the business practices of the company is unacceptable. On Friday, Oct 31st, 2025, I had to print out a document for an urgent reason but the printer at my house did not work. Why? Because I was subscribed to Brother’s “Refresh” program. I’m a light user and Brother had gotten a lot of monthly payments from me over the past three years and I’ve printed perhaps 200 pages total. The printer is mostly for emergencies. However, since I recently lost my credit card, the old version had started getting declined. Brother could have prevented the issue for itself by accepting PayPal or another payment service which would have automatically transitioned its payments. They did not. They could’ve fixed their site so when I logged in to correct the problem last month, it would’ve offered me a chance to fix it rather than saying everything was fine. They didn’t. They could’ve given me a chance to pay on Oct 31, when they shut off my service and I needed to print. They didn’t because their site is down for “maintenance.” On a late weekend morning. I tried calling them to ask if they could take the card over the phone. They had shut down all their support lines, hanging up on customers instantly, because they are down for “maintenance.” If you’re going to create a lucrative monthly fee to exploit customers, at least have the decency to use some of the money to build the infrastructure that could support it.

Awesome product
It's fast. No clogged nozzles like an ink jet. Kind of expensive, but it just flat out works. Easy set up.

Good, but not great
I grew fed up with my Hewlett Packard laser printer toner prices, so I decided to buy this Brother laser printer instead of buying new toner cartridges for my HP. The printer itself works fine. It's a little slow. The colors aren't quite as saturated as with the HP, but you only really notice that if you compare output side by side, and even then it's pretty minor. Since the toner cartridges are far less expensive for the Brother than they are for the HP, I'm pretty happy. However, there are a couple of downsides: - The Brother printer is unable to print double-sided on heavy paper. It always jams. I've spent $100 trying to find a paper weight that will reliably print on both sides. I've tried four different weights from 65 to 40 lb., and none of those papers will feed reliably. Anything less than 40 lb. is not really appropriate for the brochures I'm trying to print, so now I'm stuck having to print one side and then manually feed it to print the other side, which is a huge disappointment. - The other big disappointment is that the software for the Macintosh is still not native for Apple CPUs. It's relying on Rosetta translation, and as my Mac reminds me every time I restart, those apps will no longer work with the next version of the Mac OS. I hope Brother comes out with rewritten software ASAP. Otherwise, I'm going to have a doorstop for a printer.

Worth every penny
LOVE this printer! Print quality is excellent for black and all ink colors. The printer was easy to set up. The printer works well with both direct printing and printing remotely.

so far - best printer I've owned
This is my first splurge for a printer. I was tired of the old InkJet printers that take 5 minutes to wake up and print a page. I am grown up who deserves tech that works, not frustrates me. I don't have time for that anymore. I don't want to find a cheap printer on Fb marketplace anymore. I did a lot of research. I wanted an efficient printer that didn't require ink or toner all the time. I wanted a color printer. I pored over reviews. I splurged in hopes that the toner will last a year or so. I just bought it, and installation was a breeze. I am able to print wirelessly from my phone and my laptop. I wanted to cry it was so easy. Scanning was easy. Colors look great. Compatible with my iphone and Macbook. I will come back to write a review in about a year. I didn't sign up for the free toner bs program. I am responsible to buy more on my own. I am hoping that I will continue to be happy with my purchase.

Serious Reliability Issue After Paper Jam + Poor Support
Don't buy it. This happened to me: I purchased the Brother MFC-L3780CDW with high expectations based on the brand’s reputation. For a while, it performed well — print quality was good, and setup was straightforward. Unfortunately, after a paper jam involving slightly thicker paper, the printer developed a serious issue that I could not resolve. It began displaying a persistent “DRUM!” error message, even though the toner levels were still about half full and functioning properly before the jam. I followed all recommended troubleshooting steps. Nothing worked. The printer would not recognize the cartridges and eventually locked them in place, making them impossible to remove. At that point, the unit was essentially unusable. I contacted Brother customer support and was told the was a wait time of over a hour and a half. I called back, not once but three times. Two operators actually hung up when I got through because they had higher than normal call volume. The final time I called I was on the line over three hours. In the mean time I used chat support. The operator kept asking the same questions I had already answered and should have seen in the chat log. She didn't know the machine, kept putting me on hold, and never resolved my issues. In the end, there was no workable solution provided. What’s most concerning is that a relatively minor paper jam appears to have caused a major internal mechanical failure. This raises questions about the durability and design of the internal components, particularly the toner/drum handling system. To be fair, when the printer was working, it produced good results. But reliability and support matter just as much as performance, and in this case, both fell short. Bottom line: I wanted to like this printer, but based on this experience, I cannot recommend it. A printer should be able to handle occasional paper jams without becoming inoperable, and support should be more responsive when problems occur. This is one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had.

I like it so far.
Just received. Very easy to set up. Works very well. I am on a Mac. I need more time to see how well it works in the long run.

TONER SCAM!!!!
I feel scammed. The printer works great, sometimes. I have had the printer for a few months and am not happy. The printer itself works fine, but the software is glitchy and I have had to re-download and re-install all the software several times. Tech support is essentially non-existant. Furthermore, the toner ran out very quickly. I only print in black and white, yet somehow the yellow, magenta, and cyan toner ran out quickly. This is a scam because the toner is not empty, the printer is designed to give you a "low toner" warning after a certain number of pages. So, even though I never print in color, my toner somehow ran out. Normally, that would be fine except the printer locks itself when any of the toner drums are "empty" - i.e. even if you have a toner left, the printer will refuse to print anything until you buy a new drum and install it. To be fair, I presume all the printer manufacturers are running this scam.
